Im truly sorry that your music of choice has been usurped by laid back beachcombers. I suppose you will have to listen to classic redneck jukebox music from the 60's when you stop off for a dozen boilermakers on the way home from vocational school this winter-its a b**** up there this time of year, aint it?

stay upbeat though. Im sure your next attempt at a career wont involve writing ill informed tomes about a niche genre you totally missed the point of. But being an auto service technician at Sears does mean that the constant headaches from trying to understand really big words will probably go away.

and while Im sure you wont be attending any Buffett concerts in cleveland this summer-maybe you will get lucky dumpster diving and find an old Merle 45 that you can take back to the motel and play while you beat up your common law wife some more.

Just because someone enjoys traditional country doesn't make them an inbred hick.

For the record, Joshua Greene is human, and we all make mistakes.

I too was compelled to email him my counterpoint, and he replied civilly, a couple times. Here's one segment...

"... my issue's not with Buffett, but I do believe I've stepped well into the deep muddy with his fans. Oh, well, at least there are still some passionate people out there fighting for something.

You keep on the sunny side yourself, and thank you again,
Joshua"

I don't think he's a bad guy after all.

In his column and responses, Josh addresses several issues that I think would each be worthy of an entire column.

- Some segments of the economy are performing poorly.
- The job situation is bad in some areas or in certain industries.
- Conglomerates (and other gatekeepers) have too much control over what gets broadcast these days.

I look forward to seeing him address each of these issues further.

I can think of a lot more Non Country "country" artist then JB... for instance Tim Mcgraw, Shania, Keith Urban, Rascal Flats..... Man I could go on forever. I think JB actually brought some country back to country music.

Okay, I've read through this nice long thread and it seems as though the writer was using Buffett as an example of country music going "corporate". Jimmy's a businessman (along with being an artist), but he is a very independent one who certainly hasn't played that "corporate" game over his career. I'm missing something here... why is Jimmy an example of this?
