I read his article, and I think its only phair that I waste as much of his time as he wasted my time.
I wanted to make sure that he knew I was 15, not a good speller, and that it was a mix of english and PARROTHEADS that have me working on it.
It really is a shame that he writes for Cleveland...I never really liked the city, but at least it has the lake...but he really gives Ohio a bad name.
THANKS AGAIN GUYS!!!
and Jimmy theres still so much to be done...

What Conched posted except, I have never liked Alison Krauss and I did read the article. I am thinking this guy has one of 2 problems or perhaps both, he is still hungover from New's Years eve or has a serious constipation problem. His constipation could be because he is living with a rectal/cranial inversion that is causing some serious blockage.
Anyway, I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion even if it is ridiculously stupid. HA! HA!
Have a great night y'all!!!

I enjoy Don Williams and Hank Sr/Jr. This was good country music.
Toby Keith, you ought to rot in hell for your Shock N' Yall Tour. You moron, look what you helped get us into. Even knucklehead Willie Nelson got doped into it.
In all fairness he did call

citcat, so interesting that you should bring up this 50 ft razor idea. in my personal history of many years, i remember watching a movie that had a scene like that. or least the idea. the victims were shown climbing a ladder and then probably made to lie on their backs and slide down a giant knife like object.citcat wrote:My 'slide down a 50 ft. razor blade into alcohol' will take care of his constipation problem right quick!!!!!!!!
of course no one survived the slide, and the results were left to the imagination.

I can't get enough country music here in Oklahoma.
So I'm going to Cleveland.

I agree with Gumbo. I can definately see this guy's side. Country music has become more about soccer moms than outlaws. Is that Jimmy Buffett's fault? Absolutely not. Watered down country music can be traced back through the decades. For every Waylon Jennings there was a Kenny Rogers.
Now, the country music scene has become more about marketing than music. Toby Keith is the new Merle Haggard and Kenny Chesney is the new Jimmy Buffett. (Side note, if anyone really believes Toby Keith's image is real, go back and look at the cover of his debut album. Nice silk shirt.)
But back to the topic at hand, the suits in Nashville repeatedly find a diamond in the rough and exploit it until we're all sick of it. Young country, girl bands, and all kinds of other things. The flavor of the month happens to be island country. Does anyone really think "Some Beach" would be a big hit if "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" hadn't dominated the charts last year?
So, love it or hate it, the trend in country music will pass. It might be a month, it might be a year. (Kenny Chesney's upcoming album could very well elongate the situation) But is it fair to say that one artist is responsible for the change in a genre? I think that's a little unfair. Jimmy Buffett is not soley responsible for island country. That's like saying Garth Brooks made everyone like Billy Joel or Toby Keith is responsible for patriotism.

People your so obsessed with "history" look it up!!!! Kenny's music was changing a long time before the term "Island country" was coined. He moved that way because he was sick of Country Execs telling him who he should be and what he should sing. He followed his influences and his own experiences and now his success, along with Jimmys second coming has launched the "clones" it happens in everygenre of music.
And to say Garth Brooks ruined Country might be the stupidest thing Ive heard, country was on the brink of disaster before Garth.

Well said. Still miss the likes of Townes Van Zandt....Gumbo wrote:I'm an unabashed Parrothead, but I understand this guy's point. I'm a big Haggard, Willie, Cash, Waylon, Kristopherson, Outlaw country music fan. I enjoy Don Williams and Hank Sr/Jr. This was good country music. Then all of the sudden in the early 90's pop had a terrible influence on good country music. I can't tolerate most of the stuff I hear today...including Toby Keith, Big and Rich, Dixie Chicks, Shania Twain, Tim McGraw, etc. etc. Don't get me wrong, there are a few left out there that try to carry on the tradition, incuding George Strait and Alan Jackson, but most of these acts are pop bands with country accents. Its annoying.
.
Does anybody actually like Kenny Chesney? I've heard some songs and they are awful. I cringed when I heard about LTC since country music has become so packaged. The results were not nearly as bad as I expected but nowhere close to the Before the Beach type material. Can't blame Jimmy though since the Alan Jackson duet opened up a new market much like "Touch Of Grey" brought the Grateful Dead to MTV. Why not take the money and run!
