I can't tolerate most of the stuff I hear today...including Toby Keith, Big and Rich, Dixie Chicks, Shania Twain, Tim McGraw, etc. etc. Don't get me wrong, there are a few left out there that try to carry on the tradition, incuding George Strait and Alan Jackson, but most of these acts are pop bands with country accents. Its annoying.

Well said. Still miss the likes of Townes Van Zandt....
Does anybody actually like Kenny Chesney? I've heard some songs and they are awful. I cringed when I heard about LTC since country music has become so packaged. The results were not nearly as bad as I expected but nowhere close to the Before the Beach type material. Can't blame Jimmy though since the Alan Jackson duet opened up a new market much like "Touch Of Grey" brought the Grateful Dead to MTV. Why not take the money and run!
more of an Asleep At the Wheel or Chris Ledoux fan
but I do like Kenny.. not all his stuff but I rarely like ALL any artists offerings.

why are all newbie post lately negative ones. What happened to the fingers questions
Here's how I see it, radio today is manipulated by program managers that are manipulated by advertisers that are locked in to dollars. Jimmy back in the 70's said F*** you and went his way. Jimmy is now the hottest property that music marketers can find. This A**hole doesn't have a clue. I believe he's trying to make his mark so that some low rated rag will hire him so he can make a living. Guess what folks ????? he's full of it. This person needs to study history.
Sorry folks anyone that talks trash about Jimmy is a loser and makes me really mad.
Happy New Year and fins up!

This sentence sums up the mainstream country radio industry.

Sorry. I didn't think the post was negative (well, maybe if a Chesney fan dropped by). I'm really glad that JB has blown up in the country market. More tv appearances and radio airplay is a very good thing for all fans. However, I do not see the connection between a wonderful songwriter like JB and pre-packaged, disposable artists like Toby Keith and Chesney. The record label did though and I guess that's why they are rich.
I've been lurking around this site for a long time without posting much (I already spend too much time following another band's discussion area). I really met some amazing people in the CO club and and assume the same cool vibe exists here.

And the White House.....
You're on your own with that one. I don't talk politics around here.
Having replied to Mr Greenes 'article' and immediately getting a raging anti war anti yuppie anti beachcomber mentality response from what I presume to be a touchy probably hung-over rusting liberal yankee- I would suggest that ALL of Ya'll join in the phun. He seems to need the attention.

I'm sending mine right now!!!!
Mr. Greene,
It seems you may needed to know a little bit more about the history of country music. Jimmy Buffett once lived in Nashville and his first two albums were "Country". He began his "beach sound" after moving to Key West a few years later. He began in country music and is now returning to his roots. Plus the fact that artist like Kenny are copying his style and making big money.
Do a little research next time. And if you don't like what ya hear on the radio, there's little knob on it that says "OFF".
That should get him going I do hope the b@stard replies.

The dude has already replied to my email, not just a couple of lines but 3 paragraphs. He is going to spend his whole week replying to emails! This is too funny!

Let's schmeer him with email. But remember: we're supposed to be cool, laid-back, charitable people!
No...WAIT....him getting a lot of emails may make him think he's more important than he is, which is NOT at all!

Do not resent growing old. Many are denied the privilege.
