Has Jimmy Ever Played A Music Festival????

Post by HsvParrothead »

I have a VERY good reason for asking this... but do not wish to discuss until I know if anyone has ever known Jimmy to play at a festival with other bands... ok... well, there is one here in Hsv for the 200th anniversary of the city and their tossing around names of musicians with Alabama roots... such as Jimmy

But I've never known him to play these type of gigs... in fact 2-3 yrs ago they tried to get him for an annual late summer "jam" that takes place here and he wasn't interested... (inside info. from my cousin who cuts the checks for a local rock station)

well I know of his roots/connection with the Jazz Fest in NOLA...

my understanding is that this would be a one day... all day gig... with various bands playing... they plan to do it out at the airport and close off a couple of tarmacs for the stage... I just cant imagine Jimmy doing it unless his phans were allowed to do a tailgate scene AND if he was the headliner... by FAR he WOULD draw the largest group... think about it ... NO LIMIT ON TICKETS... so NO TICKET BROKERS... so you dont get screwed over at ticketbastard... festival seating as well... I just dont believe the city is prepared for what COULD happen if Jimmy agreed to show...

I don't know if Jimmy was scheduled to show...but he showed up and played at Sunfest in West Palm Beach with Little Feat one year that I know of. It may have been two years.

He also showed up in 2004 with Johnny Clegg.

2004 - top
Good weather and a diverse entertainment lineup brought an estimated 310,000 people to SunFest 2004. Performers included Hootie & the Blowfish, Fuel, Fountains of Wayne, Journey, Switchfoot, Buddy Guy with Double Trouble, Orleans, Peter Frampton, Cyndi Lauper, Michael Bublé, Steve Winwood, Gavin DeGraw, Michelle Branch, Groovin' For Grover, Chaka Khan, Victor Manuelle, Joss Stone, The Doors of the 21st Century, Stacie Orrico, Guitars & Saxes, The Johnny Clegg Band and Ruben Studdard. New attractions this year included a cooking demonstration by Food Network star Rachael Ray, the Old Bay Shrimp Classic eating contest, and and the ESPN Radio 760 Sports Extravaganza featuring reps from South Florida professional sports teams. Jimmy Buffett made a surprise appearance to perform with the Johnny Clegg Band, and Dan Marino enjoyed the Hootie & the Blowfish show. Chris Kirkpatrick of N'Sync came for Michelle Branch's performance.

In 1982 at Glen Helen Regional Park, Jimmy was part of the US Festival put on by Steve Wozniak (founder of Apple Computers). It was a 3-day festival that included bands like the Grateful Dead, The Police, Van Halen, David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac, The Clash and on and on.

Good times, Good times. :D :D :D

What I was thinking of was more recent....... Sometime in the mid to late 90's..........

Jimmy Festival?

Post by Goodman »

Geez, I wish Jahfin were here now- he'd surely know. Somebody drag him out of his Floridian fling. :-)

I think JB was on a bill with numerous artists, including The Band (ex- Manuel & Robertson) in 1995 in Michigan or Ohio.
I know Jimmy Buffett, Jimmy Buffett is a friend of mine. Son, you're no Jimmy Buffett!

The main one I was thinking of was the US Festival back in the 70s but there was also the Hurricane Benefit in Florida a few years back and the Music for Montserrat benefit concert.
