Jimmy in Tampa Feb. 26

Post by SharkFeathers »

Just got an email from Tampa Bay Parrothead Club. Jimmy will play in Tampa Saturday, Feb. 26.

The best news, however, is he won't be at the terrible-sounding Ice Palace. He'll be playing at the new Ford Ampitheatre at the Fairgrounds.

What are the odds?! I'm flying into Tampa that weekend to see an old childhood friend get married - on February 26th! I don't think she'd understand me bailing on her wedding though to go to the concert. Guess I'll have to catch him another time, although it is tempting to blow off the wedding...

Sure she would be ok with it. Here's what you do:
start talking her into an early wedding, say 1 or 2, because it gets hotter towards the end of a Floriday.
wed at 1
pictures at 1:45 (unless it's Catholic, in which case you miss the '05 tour. I'm Catholic, I know)
reception by 2:45
terrible chickenfish by 3:30
hotel by 4:00
stripped and into hawaiian gear by 4:30 (this took so long because you stopped at the bar/cooler/minifridge on the way to wash down the chickenfish)
out of hotel by 5:15
venue before 6:00
Buffett until past dark

I think it would work. Where there's a concert, there's a way.

I saw him in Tampa in 2003 and it was an awesome time. I got to speak to him and shake his hand and the show was pretty good too!
I am checking for show schedules daily. Man it is early January but it has been in the 70's the last week or so here in Georgia and I have spring fever!!! which means...Buffett tour fever !! 8)

I remember Jimmy saying that they are working on bringing back Desdemona's Building A Rocket Ship for the show.

Could it be a Down Island theme? He seems to be spending special times down there with research for books and movies, birthday trips, etc.

May fit in with the Island Country theme too.

Did you notice all the conch shells on the License To Chill packaging for the cd? Jimmy didn't quite let go of the Conchy Tonk name totally, did he?
