In my humble opinion, I do not believe Mr. Jimmy Buffett will stop touring. He will be another Mr. B. B. King. (By the way, Mr. B. B. King is still touring and is 79 years old.) I believe Mr. Buffett is going to keep going...he may take a year off or maybe a year and a half, but the road will call him again and he'll be right back at it. He appears to be unstoppable.

Re: Tour
I met him in April 2004 on a beach in Florida. We talked about 10 minutes and i got a pic with him. when we were talking he said he wasn't going to tour much longer. He said 2 more times and that was the day before the 2004 LTC tour started in Tampa. So if he is correct, just do the math. This will be his last tour. For awhile? Who knows? Just repeating what he told me and what he told the crowd in Orlando in Nov. Hope he is wrong.RinglingRingling wrote:You still haven't explained how you got to talk with the man, and he confided this secret to you..crawfish wrote:Just going by what Jimmy said. hope he is lying, but he sounded serious this time.Bwana Paul wrote:Mr. Buffett has been saying he would retire since the "Tales from Margaritaville" book. I'm not doubting that he said that...he has hinted at retirement before. We'll see what happens, but I would be very shocked if it all came to a screeching halt this soon after so many big events and firsts.

I don't think it'll ever come to a screeching halt.... but it may get cut way back again, like it did a few years ago... I think Jimmy will keep playing, albeit in smaller venues, and maybe unannounced, until he physically can't any more (which is, hopefully, many years from now...)Bwana Paul wrote:I'm not doubting that he said that...he has hinted at retirement before. I still haven't found on this thread where it says how these people got these "unconfirmed" tour dates and when exactly the shows go on sale and where. I would like to know when the Carolina tour dates go on sale.
Looks like Jimmy will be playing Margaritaville and Cheeseburger in Paradise, Myrtle Beach around the February time as well. Very possibly.

Sunset Beach is my Margaritaville. Where there is endless beach, no time, and sunshine that seems to last forever. I know that Someday I Will.....Someday.

Sometimes the club presidents get a heads up, so they can give input on club ticket requests. Sometimes people hear a bit of info from someone at a venue. Sometimes it's just pure rumor. Thus the "unconfirmed"...SouthernSeas wrote:I still haven't found on this thread where it says how these people got these "unconfirmed" tour dates and when exactly the shows go on sale and where. You can count on the date when it appears on Margaritaville.com.

Just hope this year that the water heater doesn't
burst like last year, with only 1 working elevator...

Also, back to the touring issue, Jimmy has always says he will continue to tour as long as it is fun. Based on last year's show, I think he will be around for awhile.

it wasn't an announcement, Molly. he just said "we'll be back for another year" at the end of the show. "year" singular, not "years" plural.... might mean absolutely nothing!springparrot wrote:I was at the Orlando show and missed him announcing about him retiring.![]()
