Business is Business... and any contract that is drawn up by the party to recieve payment is going to cover their own ass ... all the contracts and service agreements I had for my company ENSURED that it was fair to the customer and I made out like a bandit if anything was defaulted on by the customer... that's business, Your in business to make money and protect your personal interest, not make friends

I think it's reasonable. In comparison, when we had a band only known in Montana play for a charity group, they had relatively bigger demands. I think we paid them $3,000 and the veggie trays, etc cost about $100 and add the drinks they requested cost about $80, motel rooms were $150/night, etc. So in comparison to Jimmy who charges a lot more than $3k, his demands are relatively a lot less.
Glad he's treating the Coral Reefers good too!

I don't think this is unreasonable at all. I've had experiences with some bands that won't show if a certain type of near-unobtainable vodka wasn't procured or a certain type of hotel room wasn't available (not every city has a hotel with a presidential suite or a heart-shaped tub, btw).
If you compare this to the type of lavishes for pro athletes or other high-profile stars, I think this is fairly straightforward with easily obtainable foods/beverages, etc.

Don't remember the Band but the Sports bar I hang at just had to run a mission and make a quart of a cocktail for the preformer..cartmill72 wrote:I don't think this is unreasonable at all. the Zone has the Bartender that knows how to make the drink...
and this was like 10 minutes before the band was to
hit the stage..

This is nothing new, as a matter of fact the thesmokinggun.com
publishes hundreds of concert riders from most bands and
performers.
Jimmy's rider is one of the most extensive and detailed that
they publish. I've cruised this portion of their website pretty
extensively, and if you notice they only publish portions of
other performers riders. Whereas Jimmy's rider is only one
of the few they have published the whole deal.
With that said, keep in mind Jimmy's entourage is very large,
and requires more than most. As well it should require more,
being he sells out every show, and is one of the biggest money
making tours. Jimmy also keep a rigorous schedule and his time
is very limited, all concerts must be carefully coordinated.
At any rate, I also see nothing wrong with his rider given the
scope of his tours. Besides that, JB ROCKS.

I know a guy who owns a club. His place holds around 800 for a show. He tells a story about a present day "new country" superstar who threw a hissy fit before playing his club. He claims the club had met everything in the rider but this future superstar would not come off of his tour bus. The club was packed and he needed to live up to his end of the contract. This future superstar had locked himself on his tour bus. He was crying and refused to get off the bus. Finally, they found out that he wanted to talk to his girlfriend and he was out of cocaine. He demanded cocaine and to talk to his girlfriend. Luckily, the club was able to find both and this future superstar did the show. He says he has never dealt with anyone as bad as this person. He says the club management and the singers management wanted to kill this future superstar.

I don't see this as any kind of big deal. As a side note, at a concert in Houston (Woodlands) the head of security told me near the end of the show, this would be Jimmy's last song of the night. He said if he went past and I don't recall the time, it was several thousands dollars a minute extra. He said these fans can yell all they want but he is done. Sure enough, the lights came up and that was it. As with most Stars, when the show ends the Star gets a car with escort and is gone, so extra requirements work both ways.

This likely had more to do with IATSE and IBEW fees than it did with Jimmy's performance fees.land_shark3 wrote:Hence only one encore during the first Vegas show and two during the second.wanderingtoes wrote:He said if he went past and I don't recall the time, it was several thousands dollars a minute extra.
The reason a lot of bands won't play past 11 o'clock is because of union wages going overtime (usually time and 1/2 any time after midnight) and city noise ordinances (for outdoor shows).

love the snicker bars as well! Thats the only way to eat them!
Actually this contract is typical of most artists. They have to make sure they protect themselves. I work on a college campus and we book bands all the time....YOU would NOT believe what the little no name bands expect...
