Question about a cooler

I received this cooler as a gift for Christmas.I have been wanting to get it for about 2 years but could never pull the trigger. A friend of mine got tired of me talking about and gave it ti me. If anyone has this let me know, I have a question about the latch.

DO NOT put any weight in that cooler lid..
MY Dad owned a recycle center and we saw lots of them
and most with the story.. Well I sat on the lid.......
or It was in the P/U and we loaded the ... fill in blank On top of it
and the latch gave..
Hope that helps.. but it is a sweet cooler.
