Tiki's right... there is no parking lot. There are a few scattered lots, but they certainly aren't going to allow for tailgating. They cram as many cars into each lot as possible, not leaving room for anything else.citcat wrote:More important question: will there be tailgating, in the true, old-fashioned, parkinglot way at Wrigley?

No chance in hell of that ever happening. Besides... it's well-known JB's a Cubs fan, thus the rationale for wanting to play Wrigley. And Wrigley wants to host concerts, not Sox Park... and Sox Park may have more of a parking lot, but I wouldn't suggest it's more conducive to tailgating.dean_siu wrote:If he's playing a stadium in Chicago, he should go to the South Side of town....much more conducive to tailgating......and the food is much better there than at Wrigley!

They have a big new minor league baseball field in Jackson, TN. This place has a HUGE LARGE parking lot, and it's got fields all around it...perfect for a tailgate party (the serious, heavy-duty kind). It's the home of the Jackson Diamondjaxx called Pringles Park. What a perfect place for a concert, close to Memphis AND Nashville, and me!!!

How can you say it's not more conducive to tailgating........it goes on there all the time.........I was tailgating for the Stones and Springsteen there...great times at both.......so I guess they do want to host concerts....iuparrothead wrote:No chance in hell of that ever happening. The Wrigley people purposely made a very public announcement that they are interested in concerts as early as this summer a couple months ago. They are blantently targeting Jimmy Buffett as one of their first acts in part because of his music style but also in part because he has a relationship with the Cubs organization already. And sure, maybe you could technically tailgate at Sox Park, but, although I did not attend the Springsteen or Stones show, I figure it's safe to bet the tailgating scope Buffett fans tend to engage in is quite different than anything that was done at a Stones or Springsteen show.weirdo0521 wrote:How can you say it's not more conducive to tailgating........it goes on there all the time.........I was tailgating for the Stones and Springsteen there...great times at both.......so I guess they do want to host concerts....iuparrothead wrote:No chance in hell of that ever happening. Buffett is to Wrigley as Ashlee Simpson is to Cellular One Park (or whatever Sox park is now called). It's about character and tradition vs. a sterile and contrived environment. (Okay, so I'm a Cubs fan.) It's not just about where one can tailgate in a big parking lot. Parrotheads are amongst the most creative people I've seen; we'll find a way to make Wrigley work. Tiki Bar's suggestion of the lots at the end of the el lines is a good one -- I'd be in for Linden in Wilmette. Then we could have a mobile tailgate on the trains and converge on Wrigley. How fun could that be??

I know the whole Buffett/Cubs thing..and that the Tribune Co. specificallly wanted Jimmy..I'm just saying Comiskey is without a doubt a better tailgating facility and could handle Parrotheads...that's all.......we regularly tailgate for Sox games.....it's always a good time..and lighter on my wallet than when I do pregame at Wrigleyiuparrothead wrote:The Wrigley people purposely made a very public announcement that they are interested in concerts as early as this summer a couple months ago.
