Urban and Fogerty Schedule CMT Crossroads
CMA male vocalist of the year Keith Urban and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member John Fogerty are the latest artists scheduled to team up for an episode of CMT Crossroads. In the '60s, Fogerty established his reputation as one of America's greatest singer-songwriters as the leader of Creedence Clearwater Revival. In the band, he wrote and sang classic hits such as "Proud Mary," "Bad Moon Rising," "Who'll Stop the Rain," "Lodi" and "Looking Out My Back Door." As a solo artist, his credits include the hit single "Centerfield" and the 1997 Grammy-winning album Blue Moon Swamp. In 2004, he released the critically-acclaimed album Deja Vu All Over Again. Urban's latest album, Be Here, was certified platinum just weeks after its release. Urban's two previous albums are each certified double platinum for shipments of 2 million copies. Urban and Fogerty will tape the CMT Crossroads concert later this month in Los Angeles. The show is scheduled to air on CMT on February 19, 2005 at 8:00 PM EST.
This should be an interesting combo, since both Urban and Fogerty are very accomplished guitarists. I've seen both of them live and they both put on spectacular shows, so this show is gonna have to be amazing!

it should be really interesting to hear Fogerty sing urbans songs, and vice-versa, although it is more imaginable to hear urban singing and playing Fogerty that Fogerty singing and playing Urban
Imagine the amazing jam sessions this concert should have . . .. both K Urban and J Fogerty incorporate such amazing jams and long guitar solos into their shows, this is gonna be just absolutley spectacular!

who knows, maybe you'll see how good of a guitarist he really is and you'll like him . . . . .plus, the way that these things usually work is that KU will be doing Fogerty's songs, and Fogerty will be doing KUs songsJahfin wrote:I'll tune in for the Fogerty factor and will only tolerate Keith Urban which is the whole idea of these pairings anyway.

Why bust on Jerry Jeff Walker? I don't understand cutting down an artists just because someone doesn't like a certain artists?

ok call me stupid but isn't that done on a regular basis in some way or another. Don't some people catch crap because of their tastes?? I mean EVERYONE that posts in off topic is guilty
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.

I wasn't busting on JJW first of all, i was just giving two names that would likely never appear on a CMT Crossroads ticket together because not many people have heard of the DBT, and most CMT viewers would have no idea who JJW is. It was a shot at CMT, if anything, since they only play popular acts.ph4ever wrote:a1aara wrote:DsilCaribe wrote:Why are you upset? It's CMT, what would you expect??? And yes ph4ever, this does happen all the time.
I've heard Keith Urban's guitar playing and have watched my fair share of CMT's Crossroads so I'm well aware of the premise. If Keith changes my mind you'll be the first to know. I tend to watch these things even if I'm not particularly a big fan of the artist(s). One of the biggest surprises I recall was hearing Martina McBride sing along with Pat Benatar so anything is possible.DsilCaribe wrote:who knows, maybe you'll see how good of a guitarist he really is and you'll like him . . . . .plus, the way that these things usually work is that KU will be doing Fogerty's songs, and Fogerty will be doing KUs songsJahfin wrote:I'll tune in for the Fogerty factor and will only tolerate Keith Urban which is the whole idea of these pairings anyway.

well, than you don't know a good guitarist when you hear one . .. .Jahfin wrote:Quite the contrary, I wasn't overly impressed but to each their own.DsilCaribe wrote:you gotta admit, whether you like him or not, he's pretty damn talented with a guitar and a banjo.Jahfin wrote:

ask anyone whose seen him in concert and they'll tell you how mind-blowing his live guitar work is. When he does his 20 (twenty) minute long solo in "Where The Black Top Ends", its honestly like a knife is cutting through your soul, its that powerful.
We've been down this road several times before but I've heard his guitar playing and it did absolutely nothing for me. That won't keep me from tuning into the Crossroads special though. As for a 20 minute guitar solo, no thanks, I think I'll pass. Those went out in the 70s except for the bands that still like to indulge in such wankery today. Just not my taste in music and never has been.DsilCaribe wrote:well, than you don't know a good guitarist when you hear one . .. .Jahfin wrote:Quite the contrary, I wasn't overly impressed but to each their own.DsilCaribe wrote:you gotta admit, whether you like him or not, he's pretty damn talented with a guitar and a banjo.Jahfin wrote:

I can only hope that Crossroads would someday have Jerry Jeff Walker on. How great would that be?
Just because an artists is popular that doesn't make them good.
