I belong to The Hanover Area Parrothead Society in S. central PA. I had the same fears before joining. I went to the meeting place 5 or 6 times before I made myself open the door. I am truly glad I did. The world of giving and caring is much, much bigger than I ever imagined. A few months into membership, my friend and I took over producing the newsletter as a way to become more involved. It's lots of work but it created an almost instant relationship with the entire membership.
There is an almost even mix of couples and singles in our group and no-one ever feels left out. I know, I am one of the singles which is also one of my reasons for joining (plus as the newsletter editor I have access to all addresses & phone numbers just in case, if you know what I mean!)
I can recommend this experience very strongly. JOHN

I'm going to do it. Tomorrow is there Christmas party and that will be their meeting this month so I won't show up for that. That means I have to wait til the Feb meeting. But I'm going to go.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. Going to the meeting is in keeping with my new year's resolution of living life more. Not letting fears or anything else stop me from doing things I want to do. If I go and don't like the group nothing lost. And J.Lep thanks alot. I might take you up on it. But I really need to force myself to just walk in.

DESDAMONA is our muse!!! She made our very first club meeting very special....she surprised her friend jimolliemom, who was her friend in Jacksonville before moving to Tennessee. Flew and drove all the way up there to support Jill when she was starting up the club. p.s. Des, we gotta get you a smaller LMIP logo!!!!

VPHC for me, although I've never remembered or figured out the chat stuff.....

I'm a non-member but almost honorary (I've got the ball cap) of the NOPHC, N'Orleans...
If Toronto were closer to my home in Otatwa, I'd be a member of the Maple Reefers, or skip over to my old hometown of London, where there's another club...

one day I'll have to find the energy to start one in Ottawa... almost did it through Meetup, but too structured for me.... Other Ottawans/Eastern Ontario/Western Quebecers, PM me please if you want to get this going....

virtual club with less than a dozen members, who post on the Playa del Carmen (Mexico) info. forum, and also cross-post or lurk here, or just love Jimmy... we'll have a phlocking in Playa one day...

I joined the VPHC because the closest one in No. CA is about a 2 hr drive and it would be real hard for me to participate in the club activities. Besides I get to go to MOTM this year because VPHC is a PIP sanctioned club.
