Help! Need fundraiser ideas!

Hello everyone! Since parrotheads are so great at partying with a purpose, I'm turning to you for some suggestions.

My team at work will be selecting a charity and holding a fundraiser for that cause. There is a person in my organization whose father will match the amount we raise up to $500.

My question is, what are some good ideas for a fundraiser. I want to keep it simple and something we could do over a short period of time such as a single-day event or something we could do over a period of a month or so.

What are some ideas? There are approximately 15-20 that will be helping with this fundraiser and possibly their families as well.

Ya'll know what I'm good at. :wench: :wench: :wench: And it would even be timely to pick breast cancer as our charity of choice.

Our company motto is the Spirit of Service.

Hmmmm.

I host 3 fundraisers a year for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation here at local bars in Chicago. Essentially, with help from the bars, I get them to offer a 3 hour drink package for a set price. For example, all domestic and import draft + wine & well drinks for 3 hours for $25. The bar takes their cut and you get a cut too. I then guilt all my friends into coming... but it's a pretty easy sell... if I get $10 per person and I get 30 people to show up then that's $300 I've raised. Get sloshed for cheap... everyone wins! Good PR for the bar, successful fundraising and the CF Foundation gets a big donation. :D

Sweet Ann! That is fantastic! I'll have to bring that one up.

I have no idea what charity the team will choose. The ones I suggest are almost always geared toward children because that's what interests and is important to me, but we have to decide as a team.

I'll be happy to give you more details if you want... just pm me whenever. You can even try to include food and top shelf liquor in the deal. You quite possibly could even work out a better deal in CO than I could here in Chicago because your bars aren't quite as expensive, ya know!? :D :D

Depends on the bar :-? Most of us are in downtown Denver and nothing is cheap here.

I have been involved in a couple of wine tasting fund raisers where everyone brings his or her own wine to share and you have a silent auction for various goods that merchants have contributed as well as a small cover at the door. The hardest parts of this sort of fund raiser is getting the merchants to contribute and finding a place large enough to host it. The last one that I helped with raised over $5k for a local charity. All of our advertising for it consisted of word of mouth and the local community radio station. We held it at a neighborhood church that was willing to contribute the space necessary to host it.

I do alot of fundraising. We hold an annual 5k race which does well, we also have a dinner. We also do a golf tournament, which makes considerable money. (if you are interested I can give you details on this)Local club here has a bbq at a local restaurant, parrot head band on deck, corona girls collecting for raffle, etc..For the high school track team in the spring we're going to have a dinner, from which we'll be making some money but we'll also have a basket raffle. The girls team picks a theme the boys team picks a theme. They the donate or get donated items to go into the baskets. They sell raffle tix on their own and also during the dinner.
Since it's a work function, I would suggest some sort of get together that everybody can have fun at, make some money off of the tix and have items to raffle off to make additional bux. Throw in a 50/50. At our golf tournament we have chinese auction going with at least 15 donated prizes. People buy tix and put them in a bag for the prize they like.

Mal, remember the pies they sold in "Revenge of the Nerds"? I'm thinking something along those lines would work.

How about an eBay offer like this guy....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 27554&rd=1

Saw this guy on Fox news. So when I typed in FOREHEAD into eBay, LOTS of people do this.

I am so behind in the times!

I dont know if it would be just the 15-20 people involved or others would be once you organise

but I have had where we organise a lunch or morning tea at work.
The team of 15 people provide the food - ie they cook their specialty dish and the others get to come along and eat it - and pay a small amount (say 5.00) to eat it ... a cheap lunch when you think about it!

People could bring appetisers ... mains and desserts ...

most people dont mind paying for food!

Wow Creeky! That is a great idea and probably more reasonable for the pholks around here. We easily have enough space to do a buffet style breakfast or lunch and I work in an office so they'll do ANYTHING for food!

Nice!
