Last time I checked you play to win championships, not put up stats.job41475 wrote:Peyton Manning put up one of the most amazing NFL seasons of all time and his team's failure against the World Champions led by a brilliant Defensive coordinator and Head Coach should not take away from that.
your right it is to win championships but that doesn't mean that if you fail to do so that takes away from other accomplishments you achieved during the year. I'm sure Peyton would gladly sacrifice 20 TD passes for a win this past weekend. Everybody is saying that his season is now meaningless because he didn't win... I disagree.mexcooker12 wrote:Last time I checked you play to win championships, not put up stats.job41475 wrote:Peyton Manning put up one of the most amazing NFL seasons of all time and his team's failure against the World Champions led by a brilliant Defensive coordinator and Head Coach should not take away from that.
All i'm saying is he had an amazing season and only one team gets to win each year, but still leaves others to have successful seasons. Plenty of great players in all sports have amazing seasons and careers but no titles ( Marino, Charles Barkley, Ernie banks, Tony Gwynn come to mind immediately and many others) but it doesn't diminish their accomplishments.mexcooker12 wrote:Last time I checked you play to win championships, not put up stats.job41475 wrote:Peyton Manning put up one of the most amazing NFL seasons of all time and his team's failure against the World Champions led by a brilliant Defensive coordinator and Head Coach should not take away from that.
That's weird... I don't remember the Pro Bowl only having players from the winning Super Bowl team in it....mexcooker12 wrote:Last time I checked you play to win championships, not put up stats.job41475 wrote:Peyton Manning put up one of the most amazing NFL seasons of all time and his team's failure against the World Champions led by a brilliant Defensive coordinator and Head Coach should not take away from that.
Come on now, Shane - you know facts, logic, and rational thinking skills (not to mention correct spelling, punctuation or grammar) have no place in this thread.nycparrothead wrote:That's weird... Peyton Manning eets donkee ballls!!!!
(How was that?)
What garbage teams are you referring to? Look at the Pats schedule this season. Anyway, Manning will prove to be the greatest quarterback of all time. Anyone who doesn't see that, either knows very little about football or has not watched him enough. As far as not blaming himself. Maybe you can't hear, because he ALWAYS takes the blame. He takes losses personally and truly doesn't give a #@$^ about stats. Everyone gets outplayed. I really dislike New England, but give the Pats all the credit for the win on Sunday. They played a terrific game.mexcooker12 wrote:Manning was finally exposed as an overrated fraud. If Marino played in a dome against all those garbage teams with the strict enforcement of the "no touching" rules he would have put up 50 tds. Manning could never win the big one in college (never beat Florida, Tenn. won the national title the year after he left) why would the pro's be any different. And of course after the game he placed the blame everywhere but on himself. Glad to see the two best teams in the league going at it for the afc. Can you believe the Pats were underdogs to the Colts this week? Anyways Go Pats!
What do you think Manning would rather have, the starting spot on the Pro Bowl, or the chance to play for a ring? I am not saying he doesn't put up stats, he obviously does, but there is more to being a great qb than stats, you dont play to go to pro bowls, you play to win titles.nycparrothead wrote:That's weird... Those teams would be the Bears, the Lions, the Titans, Oakland, Kansas City, and Houston, none of whom had a .500 record.kinja wrote:What garbage teams are you referring to? When you want to discuss an individual's play, you use stats. When the conversation is about teams, you talk championships. No single player has ever won a Super Bowl, regardless of stats. Peyton Manning is a Championship Caliber Quarterback, but the Colts are a Playoff team at this stage, not a Super Bowl champion. Let's not compare Papayas and Mangoes here.mexcooker12 wrote:What do you think Manning would rather have, the starting spot on the Pro Bowl, or the chance to play for a ring? Cardinals, Bengals, Browns, Dolphins, 49ers, Chiefs, and Tom Brady didn't put up numbers.mexcooker12 wrote:Those teams would be the Bears, the Lions, the Titans, Oakland, Kansas City, and Houston, none of whom had a .500 record.kinja wrote:What garbage teams are you referring to? I never said that the Pats had the hardest schedule, just saying that the Colts wasnt that great either. Tom Brady made the Pro Bowl, his numbers have been good enough to win two super bowl mvps. Those are good enough numbers for me.kinja wrote:Cardinals, Bengals, Browns, Dolphins, 49ers, Chiefs, and Tom Brady didn't put up numbers.mexcooker12 wrote:Those teams would be the Bears, the Lions, the Titans, Oakland, Kansas City, and Houston, none of whom had a .500 record.kinja wrote:What garbage teams are you referring to?
