Last time I checked you play to win championships, not put up stats.
That's weird... I don't remember the Pro Bowl only having players from the winning Super Bowl team in it....

What do you think Manning would rather have, the starting spot on the Pro Bowl, or the chance to play for a ring? I am not saying he doesn't put up stats, he obviously does, but there is more to being a great qb than stats, you dont play to go to pro bowls, you play to win titles.
When you want to discuss an individual's play, you use stats. When the conversation is about teams, you talk championships. No single player has ever won a Super Bowl, regardless of stats. Peyton Manning is a Championship Caliber Quarterback, but the Colts are a Playoff team at this stage, not a Super Bowl champion. Let's not compare Papayas and Mangoes here.
This is true, I agree with you to an extent, but Peyton Manning is that team. He is the one calling all the plays on the field. Why didnt they take any shots long? Not once did they go long on the depleted secondary of the Pats. And its partially becuase of Mannings huge cap number that they dont have anyone on D.

He played, he lost, it happens...Tough break for such a good season.
Does anyone really remember when they played for the love of sports and
NOT THE MONEY ? aLL of their salaries are over inflated...Millions of bucks for fame, travel, glory, and maybe even THE ring...Now who would not do that if they could...

How often did they go long in the regular season? Whenever I saw highlights of a Colts' game it seemed like Manning was throwing a 5 yard touchdown pass. It wasn't like the "mad bomber" Raiders when Daryl LaMonica or Ken Stabler was the QB and they were throwing the ball down the field all day. You don't make it to the second round of the playoffs and then change your entire offensive approach, unless you want to lose.

Peyton was due for a bad game, ya just knew it was coming.
Perhaps the blue jerseys of the Pats reminded him of the Gators
But it is a team sport and you can't expect him to do it all, maybe the Pats are just that dang good.
I'd take him in a second, for my team that is and not in the way Shane thinks

Manning is one of the greatest quarterbacks and has years to show what he can do. He studies the game like nobody else, and is a nice guy and a class act. The TEAM lost the game. There are only a few NFL players that i LOVE to watch, he is definitely at the top, with Favre up there too. Favre is funny, and has a good time playing.

Can you believe the Pats were underdogs to the Colts this week? Anyways Go Pats!
Marino had 48 TD passes in his best year so you're saying he would have thrown 2 more over a 16 game season. Big deal. BTW, how many championships did Marino win, in college or the NFL?
EASY,I'M A HUGE MARINO FAN.DEFENSE AND A GOOD RUNNING ATTACACK WINS FOOTBALL GAMES.MARINO NEVER HAD EITHER.NOW GUYS LIKE TRENT DILFER,JIM PLUNKETT,PHIL SIMMS,KURT WARNER,I'M SURE I CAN THINK OF MORE.THESE GUYS WERE GREAT QUATERBACKS?IT'S THE SYSTEM.MONTANA WAS PROBABLY THE BEST I'VE SEEN.BUT MARINO IS RIGHT BEHIND HIM.BAR NONE.BUY THE WAY MARINO WAS HURT HIS SENIOR YEAR.THAT 'S WHY HE WASN'T DRAFTED AS HIGH.REMEMBER KEN O'BRIEN WAS DRAFTED AHEAD OF HIM.ALSO LOOK AROUND THE LEAGUE HOW MANY STARTING QUATERBACKS DID WIN NATIONAL TITLES.VERY FEW IF ANY

My question is.... Where does the desperation come from to start an entire new thread simply to rip on Peyton Manning... one player from the losing team? There's already an NFL thread to comment in... but did you need attention on your bitterness that bad to start a whole new thread?

You are absolutely right on taking shots long. The Colts used the same gameplan as last year and it worked about as well. I think the Pats did a great job covering the long ball. Also, the Colts D is not as bad as everyone likes to think. They are a victim of the type of game that is typically played when the Colts offense is clicking. It certainly wasn't on Sunday.

I am a Pats fan, and I did think Peyton's Colts were given way to much hype over the week, but this does not take away from the fact that Peyton is a very good quarterback. The Greatest of all time I definately don't think so. He seems to let the pressure get to him in big games. Now this does not take away from the fact that his cut that meat chant was hysterical, and he picks up some serious points for singing the Mac Macnally written song "back where I come from" with Kenny Chesney ain front of a packed house in Tennesse. So in conclusion Peyton definately not a sissy as this first topc first implied, but he is not the greatest qb of all time either.

He's not hot!! He's got a long, skinny face and he sounds like an inbread freak when he talks. Now, that Tom Brady... He's a real man!!

There is one thing that I am not sure anyone understands. The pressure did not get to Peyton Manning. He didn't make any bad throws in the game on Sunday. The receivers dropped passes they normally catch. Fumbles don't help. Neither of which are pressure getting to Manning. The Pats didn't beat Manning. Tom Brady didn't beat Peyton Manning. The PATS beat the COLTS. It is still a team game. Once again, stats are for individuals, Wins are for Teams. Also, before anyone jumps on me for the bad throw comment, I know a lot of throws looked low. I'm sure that is intentional considering the wind and the weather. Keep the ball down to avoid interceptions.

Yeah, speakin' of that stupid commercial... Am I the only one that finds it to be somewhat offensive? To me it felt like the multi-million dollar making prima-donna was taunting his fans. I mean I have to believe that was not the intent behind it, but it sure feels that way every time I see it.
