I watched the same show and i still stand behind my statement. If you listen to the song and try to put diet in it will not fit with what i already stated. If you can show me proof then i will sing your way, so untill then there is no diet.

That chair was my bed one New Year's night
When I passed out from too much Malibu and diet
And I woke up to a hundred mosquitoes
I swear, got em all sitting right there
In that old blue chair

I listened to the When The Sun Goes Down cd last week - the original Old Blue Chair definitely said Malibu and diet...

okay, but you're wrong. If you listen to the song closely he says what sounds like "when i passed out from too much malibu and "ied" and i woke up to 100 . . .. "

you cannot deny the existence of that d/t sound

and if you still don't believe it, here's how you'll know for sure .. . .

listen to the song. lets assume he doesn't say "diet". the lyric would then be ". . . out from too much malibu and i and i woke up to . . . ."
who the hell would say "and i" twice??? it has to be diet. wow, this arguement is really stupid and pointless

In the original version of "Old Blue Chair" when he's singing about passing out in the chair he says "from too much Malibu and diet" and in the version on Be As You Are he says "Cruzan and diet" .....so I dial up Cruzan rum on the email machine in front of me and I'll be darned. Cruzan is a "proud sponsor of Kenny Chesney's 2005 tour"!
When I heard it yesterday I kept thinking Cruzan doesn't sound right so I listened to the WTSGD version and just laughed.
I guess Malibu didn't want to pony up the $$.
Or he changed his preference in rum.
yeah i noticed that too, but it also makes more sense that he would put cruzan there and have him as his sponsers because Cruzan is made and bottled in the virgin islands on Saint Croix, which isn't too far from Kenny's island of Saint John (if thats where he lives).

words are not "cruzan and diet". They are "When I passed out from too much cruzan and I woke up to a hunderd mesquito bites," Just FYI.
Actually, it is "passed out from too much Cruzan and diet I woke up to a hundred mosquito bites."
you need to do some reserch.
And you need to be more friendly.

"I and I" is very common in real island music. :D

That is my favorite line because it has happened to me before. This is from azlyrics.com and from the "WTSGD" version so they just switched Cruzan for Malibu, obviously, as has been stated b4.

KENNY CHESNEY LYRICS

"Old Blue Chair"

There's a blue rocking chair
Sittin in the sand
Weathered by the storms and well oiled hands
It sways back and forth with the help of the winds,
Seems to always be there, like an old trusted friend

I've read a lot of books,
Wrote a few songs
Looked at my life where it's goin, where it's gone
I've seen the world through a bus windshield, but nothing compares
To the way that I see it,
to the way that I see it,
to the way that I see it when I sit in that old blue chair

From that chair I've caught a few fish and some rays
And I've watched boats sail in and out of cinnamon bay
I let go of a lover that took a piece of my heart
I prayed many times for forgiveness and a brand new start

I've read a lot of books,
Wrote a few songs
Looked at my life where it's goin, where it's gone
I've seen the world through a bus windeshield, but nothing compares
To the way that I see it, to the way that I see it,
to the way that I see it when I sit in
that old blue chair

That chair was my bed one New Year's Night
When i passed out from too much malibu and Diet
And woke up to a hundred mesquito bites,
I swear got 'em all sittin right there
In that old blue chair

There's a blue rockin chair
Sittin' in the sand
Weathered by the storms and well oiled hands
Question: "And now Kenny Chesney has recorded a beach album." Jimmy's Answer: "It's flattering. Some people say I should be p*** off about it but I'm really not. It's the highest form of flattery, and I'm fine with it."

He absolutely says "and DIET". I just listened to it. Took out all the bass, turned the center channel up all the way, put my ear up to the speaker and most certainly heard DIET. I urge anyone who questions this, to do the same, it is very clear. Anyway, I really like the song. Not a big Kenny fan though.

Cruzan sponsored his 2004 tour too.

AND as I recall the words were originally with him waking up from too much Malibu and Diet as well.
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.

For whatever it's worth, the Rolling Stone review:

http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/ ... layer=true

Kenny Chesney Be As You Are (BNA)

On his recent records, country superstar Kenny Chesney has been a good ol' boy on some Jimmy Buffett s***, going multiplatinum with a combo of clambake honky-tonk, cowboy-hat calypso and breezy change-of-pace ballads. Be As You Are is also inspired by the islands, but this time Chesney has recorded an entire album of breezy change-of-pace ballads. Over little more than piano and acoustic guitar, Chesney lays his supple, hunky tenor into sun-soaked reflections about "French Kissin' Life" and the joys of key lime pie, pausing for some perfunctory character sketches involving New Englanders who just want to get away from it all. Be As You Are is plenty pretty, but aside from the mildly Caribbean-flavored "Guitars and Tiki Bars," it sounds like Chesney's drummer never got back from fetching the Coronas.

Just acouple of quick points...

His "permanent" residence is still Nashville...with extended vacations in the Islands. He makes it a point NOT to mention which Island exactly for reasons of privacy.

And yes the lyrics ARE

too much Malibu n' Diet
And I woke up...
