hotels depend on what you are looking to do while you are out here

Cricket Pavillion is located in the West Valley ... there are many hotels that can get you within 15-20 minutes of the venue and still be nice

Mesa is east valley and is a good haul from the venue

Scottsdale & Tempe are a little more happening than other parts of the city, and although a good drive from Cricket, they are convenient for other nights if it is a long stay

Phoenix runs the spectrum of options pending on how much you are looking to pay and what you are looking to do while here.

If you are in town mainly for the concert there is a holiday inn in Goodyear, which would put you 30 mins from the airport and about 15 mins from the venue with I-10 being the artery for both

Another area on the westside I like is the Arrowhead area, there are a ton of restaurants, some moderate hotels, decent bar scene and a spring training stadium and good highway access as well

That area would put you about 30-40 minutes from the airport and about 20 minutes from the venue

Where to stay in Phx?

Post by DreamerofDreams »

I'll be staying at the Econo lodge in Phx (Tolleson actually) which I understand is within hiking distance of the Cricket Pavilion and is more or less party central for Parrotheads. There will also be a few other die hard Parrot Heads from the high country of Arizona :pirate:, so look ou!!!

The closer it gets to the concert date the anxiouser I get!

Just picked up a "Salty Piece of Land" to help alleviate my Buffett Jones until I can get the real thing..

I couldn't help you there, It's been so long since I lived there I wouldn't be surprised if the Goodyear Blimp was no longer in Goodyear Az. One thing is for sure though, I'll be listening on RM while you are actually there. Just like tonight at the Tampa concert.
So what else is new???? One day we'll get to enjoy these things together I hope. 8)

I used to listen to a radio station that was broadcast from Tolleson....Tolleson was only 2 blocks long and 1 block wide....................I haven't been there since 1984, but I can say one thing about PHX...I do NOT miss the summers!
I lived directly across the street from Luke Airforce Base on the corner of Litchfield Road and Glendale Ave. which was out in the middle of NOWHERE at the time. I would like to go back just to see how much it's all changed. But obviously....it won't be this year.

OK This group has dropped too far back. We have to start building some excitement. :D Has anyone heard anything new yet on preparties or tailgating? Anyone know somebody with security at Cricket to convince them to let us just be us? I know they have their policies,I just thougt I would ask. At least in Indy they have a CIP to hang at because the tailgating is not good.Keep us posted on where to go and be parrothead phriendly. The countdown begins!

Pre-concert Phlockings

Post by DreamerofDreams »

I understand that there is going to be a big pre-concert Bash at Maloney's Bar and Grill ( sorry I don't have an address a this time) with shuttle buses leaving for the concert from there.. I plan on catching a ride from my hotel to Maloney's then taking the bus to the concert and stumbling back to my hotel after the concert which just happens to be within staggering distance of the Cricket Pavilion. Good Planning eh? See you all at the concert and I hope to have my BN;ers nametag proudly on display. See you all there. BTW temps in phx have been in the high 80's last week or so so expect a warm one.

I'm not sure, but I know he'll be right in the middlle of the action. Maybe you could tie a BN lanyard around one of his palms.

Not sure how you will set SOASOAPT apart from all his relatives in Phx. But I definitely want to sign him. Be looking for him and you at the Hotel and at the concert. See you on the 12th. :pirate:

We will be leaving Flagstaff at approx. 9 A.M. Tuesday morning and will be convoying down to Phx. to the Hotel and then to Maloney's for the pre-concert festivities. Will definitely be on the lookout for you and the Lone Palm. Until then Fins Up!!!!

Does anyone know what the situation is with tailgating? Earlier someone wrote that last time they got in the parking lot at 3:00, and someone else said there is absolutely no tailgating. Does anyone know?

be cool tailgating hasn't been a problem in the past. security and the cops usually don't hassle anyone unless they're out of control assholes. the problem is when will the parking lots gates open. cricket advertises 5 or 6 PM. sometimes they open early, other times they haven't.

I'd feel bad for you, but I have no soul.....

Okay, thanks for the info. I'm from Chicago and used to Alpine where the lining up starts before noon. I guess we'll try for 2:00 or 3:00 and see what happens.
