Now I'm assuming this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find it through the search. I know the AuTOUR DU ROCHER was in St. Barts, Jimmy owne it, and it burnt down. Can anyone else give me any more info on it, by any chance had anyone ever been. Just always been kind of curious. And sorry if it is a repeated topic.

Never been, but I love the song. The lyrics really put a vision in your head. It's completlely different, and funky. I really wish he would have performed it when I saw him in Tampa on the Far Side Tour. Maybe someday it will see the light of day in the live set, but I doubt it.
Later,

There was a very cool article at Margaritaville.com about Jimmy owning that place, I think it was in "Adventures with Jimmy."

"Funky" really becomes Buffett on that song.
I loved Adventures With Jimmy too.

I love "Around the Rock"!
I've got a great live version of it on my Alpine 2002 recording!

I hear if you look through the cracks in the dance floor, you could see Hell.
But seriously, I went by it back in 2001. It was pretty much a bunch of rubble at that time. I would of loved to have gone back in the day.

What is the actual story behind the bar/restaurant? Jimmy alluded to a sort of St. Barts 'dis-organized crime faction' burning down the place, people who didn't like the place or him, or something. Also, does anybody have a picture of the place.....I've never seen one in print or on here?

We went to St. Barts a couple of years ago and had the taxi driver take us as close as he could to the remains.
You can't get any closer than a locked steel gate at the bottom of the hill.
Howver, you can see the remains at the top of hill.
Our driver told us that David Letterman now owns the property.
While we are on this topic...has anyone ever found a bottle of
Autour de Roche as pictured in the video..Far Side of the World or was that a prop.
I have ask all over for it..but have always came up empty.
