Yay!!!!!!!! Thanks Larry! This is my favorite song verse ever! :D

(That's) why I don't cry when my dog runs away
I don't get angry at the bills I have to pay
I don't get angry when my Mom smokes pot
Hits the bottle and goes right to the rock
F&*%in' and fightin', it's all the same
Livin' with Louie dog's the only way to stay sane
Let the lovin', let the lovin' come back to me

I Googled the lyrics and it's a band I never heard of. I need to brush up on my pop culture references.

The band is Sublime and the song's called What I Got. I'll download the mp3 and see what I think. My 22 year-old daughter knows this band. I asked her about it! :D

Shiny, shiny, shiny boots of leather
Whiplash girlchild in the dark
Comes in bells, your servant, don't forsake him
Strike, dear mistress, and cure his heart

The VU song is actually entitled "Venus In Furs".

Ann - another Sublime song, I bet??

Yay! It's Santeria by Sublime :D

Another one of my fave song lyrics:

On candystripe legs the spiderman comes
Softly through the shadow of the evening sun
Stealing past the windows of the blissfully dead
Looking for the victim shivering in bed
Searching out fear in the gathering gloom and
Suddenly! a movement in the corner of the
Room! and there is nothing I can do when I
Realize with freight that the spiderman is having
Me for dinner tonight

This one might be tougher... it wasn't a radio hit or anything, but if you know this band, you have to know this song.

THIS one I know!!! Lullaby by The Cure . . . such cool images.

The way you walk
The way you talk, and try to kiss me, and laugh
In four or five paragraphs
All your compliments and your cutting remarks
Are captured here in my quotation marks

Elvis Costello - Everyday I write the Book

And just like the ocean under the moon
Well that’s the same emotion that I get from you
You got the kind of lovin that can be so smooth
Gimme your heart make it real
Or else forget about it

Oh God! That song . . . Carlos Santana and the guy from Matchbox 20??

Smooth

We were so close there was no room,
We bled inside each other's wounds,
We all had caught the same disease,
We all sang the songs of peace.

Rob Thomas

awesome song g/f...im not sure if you were looking for Meredith Brooks???

(lay down) Candles in the Rain

She won't recover from her losses,
She's not chosen this path, but she watches who it crosses
Maybe move to the right, maybe move to the left
So we can all see her pain she wears like a banner on her chest

I'm old, Lisa . . . I know Lay Down Candles In The Rain from the 70s by a singer known only as Melanie. (Her last name was Safka.)

Yours is Indigo Girls - The Girl With the Weight . . . . etc.

When I look in the mirror the only one there is me
Every freckle on my face is where it's supposed to be
And I know our creator didn't make no mistakes on me
My feet, my thighs, my lips, my eyes; I'm lovin' what I see

Cate...funny thing, I knew it by her, but I heard it by Meredith recently and thought may you had too....so guess that makes us both old

India Arie....Video ( I just had this cd in my hand at the store :o :o )

I watched you take her hand
There was love in your eyes
I remember when you looked at me that way too
Before we said good-bye
