I am heading to Cancun 2 weeks with a friend of mine. Neither of us have been before, any advice as to where to go, what to do?

Visit Tulum as well. This is usually in a tour package with snorkeling at some of the quieter beaches. Highly recommend it, especially since Tulum plays a prominent role in JB's new book, "A Salty Piece of Land" :pirate:

Take the ferry across the bay to Isla Mujeres. I haven't been yet (going in March) but my husband has been a couple of times. He says that's where the best snorkeling is and we're signed up to swim with the dolphins there, too. I never took any Spanish classes, but Mujeres means women, I think. What guy wouldn't want to visit the Isle of Women?

And don't forget the really obvious suggestion, visit Margaritaville!

Take the day ferry (not an organized cruise) to Isla Mujeres and rent a golf cart when you arrive, (the best means of transportation on the island). Drive down the west side of the island to one of the many fish barbeque places. They cook the fish right on the beach immediately after the fishing boats tie up. Very informal, but the best fish I have ever eaten!
Snorkelling on the Playacar reef is ok, but very crowded .
Don't even get me started on the dophins ....I am very opposed to the whole thing. But ... that's just one woman's opinion.
