Oh but Ann you should know by now that there are people around here that don't appreciate fun music. It's got to be something by what they consider a serious artist and written by the artist him/herself and performed without the aid of autotune.iuparrothead wrote:LIPH wrote:She's trailer trash who got lucky because the American public has such bad taste in music.![]()

Ouch Larry. Geez... since I doubt you make it out to club much anymore, I don't think you'd be interested in listening to Britney's music in the same context I do... (whether or not she can actually "sing") she makes good songs, and they are fun to dance to. Simple really.
Enough Kenny, Toby or DBT. Let's talk about real talent!

The woman is talent-free and calling what she does "music" is an insult to real musicians.iuparrothead wrote:LIPH wrote:She's trailer trash who got lucky because the American public has such bad taste in music.![]()

Personally, I like plenty of artists that are considered "fun" (uh, like Buffett for instance) that doesn't always write his own material and to my knowledge has never fallen prey to the evils of AutoTune but I surely don't count the likes of Britney among them. If she blows people's skirts up that's wonderful but ready made pop artists such as herself and Ashlee Simpson are symptoms of what's wrong with the music industry today. There are those of us that prefer the genuine article but if pop music is your thang, that's ok too.ph4ever wrote:Oh but Ann you should know by now that there are people around here that don't appreciate fun music. Of course it's "music"... in the same context that Eminem, Shania Twain, or Moby make "music". It's not art to everyone, but it's to each his own to decide if they find it pleasurable in whatever context they choose to find it pleasurable. There's nothing more that I like to do on a Saturday night than to go to the club with a few friends and dance like mad for a few hours... and Britney (love her or hate her) makes great songs to do that to. On the other hand... a real musician like Sting, for instance, doesn't necessarily get me all fired up to dance. See my point?LIPH wrote:The woman is talent-free and calling what she does "music" is an insult to real musicians.iuparrothead wrote:LIPH wrote:She's trailer trash who got lucky because the American public has such bad taste in music.![]()

`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'
