For all the Vegas Virgins...now there's an oxymoron...here's a list of tips from BN'rs over the last few months...a lot more throughout this threadTraderRick wrote:There've been a whole lot of great VEGAS TIPS for BNr's (from BNr veterans)...here's the updated rundown:

Ditto. I thought I'd bring it back to the top to help those trying to plan for the October concerts.alpomatic wrote:Just bringing this back to the top of the list. This thread has come in very handy for our planning. Thanx for all the tips.
I know it's been a long time since this was posted but I just read it and... I am a cowgirl, but wait, I am a parrothead, but, I'm a cowgirl, but....Island_Dog wrote:Personally, I always enjoy taking a ride out to Red Rock Canyon and doing some hiking and rock climbing.
But for the more mainstream, Freemont Street Experience is a must, Treasure Island outdoor show, the bar outside of Harrah's is always hoppin', and if you're up to it, mosey on down to the Texan and ride the mechanical bull. Those cowboys hate it when a parrothead rolls in in shorts and loud shirt and beat their times.
How long do they keep you @ these time-share things? I did one in West Palm Beach, Florida and we were there ALL DAY!TraderRick wrote:One thing I might suggest to Parrotheads coming to Vegas for a full spectrum Vegas experience (if the budget allows) is to plan to see another major show while you're there...maybe "La Reve" at the Wynn, or "O" at Bellagio, or just an old fashioned Vegas show like "Jubilee" at Bally's.
You'll only see these kinds of spectacles in Vegas- something to tell the grandkids and all... you won't regret it, I promise.
Now there's a way to get a FREE show and dinner- if you're willing to give up a couple hours at one of these time share presentations. (The one that comes to mind is the one that's based in the Flamingo lobby.) Just be strong (have a few margartitas beforehand) and you get to see the show of your choice with dinner. It's really pretty easy- we've done it and we'll do it again!
Now with the freebie shows you will only be able to choose from shows that obviously haven't been sold out yet upon your arrival. Chances are that the seats you will be looking at for "O", "La Reve", and "Mystere" will be sold out by the time you get into town. They usually sell out a month-plus out...go to the show sites and check now for availabilty now... www.vegas.com/shows
So if that floats your boat jump on it now!

I thought the really good ones got into heaven. You say this like it was a bad thing..Defimoff1 wrote:TraderRick wrote:House of Blues, http://www.hob.com/venues/clubvenues/lasvegas/ for all of the newbies, is at Mandalay Bay. Mandalay is a cool place. They have an awesome aquarium.Defimoff1 wrote: Another place I'm always impressed with is the House of Blues- for breakfast of all things!! Jambalaya and eggs- incredible. The most amazing thing about that place is that as soon as walk through their entryway you truly enter another world and the casino behind you disappears. Wonderful ambiance. And at night that place takes off!!Phins uP!!

Their Island Bar is a lot of fun at night.... good mix of music and a little older crowd. Watch out though.... its hooker heaven!!! Rumjungle at Mandalay is a super dance club at night for those that like techno and house type music, http://www.vegas.com/nightclubs/rumjungle/ and daytime and evenings its a great semi-upscale restaurant. http://www.vegas.com/searchagent/restau ... antId=3255 I ate there in Oct with CRC, Jane, Michi, etc. I ordered the BBQ. They brought out at least 7 different meats!! Incredible!!
One thing regarding eating in Vegas. The old idea that its cheap to eat there is a thing of the past. You can dine on Subway and stuff cheaply if you want, but there are endless places for fine dining. For little more than what it would cost you to eat at Margaritaville, you can have an outstanding meal at a number of places. (of course no trip to M'ville would be complete without a cheeseburger in paradise at least once) Regarding buffets: Some are decent, some aren't. They aren't all that cheap. Again, for what it costs you can do much better at a real restaurant.
Dean will be bent if I don't mention Roy's. http://www.usmenuguide.com/royslvmenu.html
Yes Deano, the food was superb and the chocolate souffle was to die for. But you know Vodoo blows it away.... lol!!! (a disagreement we've had for years)![]()

And even though the crowd issue might seem overwhelming...jump in line, especially on the 3rd floor, and you'll likely get a table/chair sooner than you might have thoughtfleshandbone wrote:With all of us in town, I know Margaritaville will be crowded but if you are staying in town for a couple days before or after the concert, try what was suggested above: Top deck bar at Margaritaville. We really enjoyed sitting up there, Margaritas in hand watching the strip traffic go by and the Bellagio fountains.
there is one strip club across from the hard rock on paradise road. i think the name is.....club paradise...........it opens late afternoon or early evening and closes when the sun comes up.MaParrotheads wrote:I meant the strip clubs, swingers and partiers !!!!!!!!!!!
