I've been a Buffett fan since the late '70's and I just heard this song on RM and I got to thinking; I've never known who this song is about. Does anyone know who Jimmy wrote this song about?
Having been a fan so long, I'm a little embarassed to ask this but I figured I'd be safe asking it here.

Thanks to all!

quote="Goodman"]As has been already covered this semester- "Death of an Unpopular Poet" was based on undergrounders Ken Patchen and Richard Farina.

Buffett didn't get down to Florida until say 1971-1972 so he didn't likely cross Mr K in 1969. Jimmy was a hippie as shown by Down to Earth and High Cumberland so he likely was familiar with anything published at the time.[/quote]

Is it me or is this guy suddenly getting very popular? :-)

Also, there's a book out now called "Positively 4th Street" and it chronicles the early life and times of Dylan, Baez and Farina. So says my college freshman daughter.
