I am going to Paris in March for 8 nights and i was wondering if you guys knew of any cool places to eat, hang out, or anything. I wonder where Jimmy goes when he goes there.

Ill be sure to tell you, so far I know the normal things to do, ie Notre Dame, Louvre, Eiffell Tower. I want to go through the catacombs.

I was in Paris last July. The usual tourist areas are interesting, but there's a lot to the city to see. My favorites of the standard tourist stops were Notre Dame & the Arc de Triomphe. The Latin quarter (or St. Germaine) & Montmartre (Moulin Rouge/Red light district) are cool for dining and shopping.

I spent a week in Paris and the most wonderful place we went was called "La Mere Catherine" http://www.montmartrenet.com/nojava/mere1.html. It was absolutely magical....and the food was divine. It's close to Sacre Cour, we walked from there.....if you go there have the Profiterole....
I went in March of 2000....a splendid vacation.

Père-Lachaise's Cemetery was a great side trip.....such history there, the very least of which is Jim Morrison's grave.....

There's a really trendy spot called "Barfly"......we went there and I just felt old and ugly....I've never seen so many beautiful people in one place....but seemed to be the place to be and be seen!

The museums......Orsay was incredible.....especially if you're fond of the modern art era....The Louvre....no words can describe!

You must go to the top of the Eiffel Tower at night......you'll never forget it!

I'm envious.....really, really hope to go back some day!!

I've been there a couple of different times and had a lot of fun. It's touristy, but you should do the combo Tour Eiffel / boat ride deal. Pont Neuf is the tip of an island in the river, and it's neat. The area just across the river from Notre Dame (Latin Quarter I think?) was one of my favorite sections. The Arc de Triomph is neat, but it's a long walk depending on where you stay - from the Latin Quarter you should probably take a cab. There are a lot of nice shops along the Avenue there, but it didn't appeal to me like the Latin Quarter.

As long as you're nice, people will be nice to you in return. It helps if you try to speak at least a little French. Everybody there speaks English, but you're in their country. If nothing else, say "Awnglay see voo play" and then speak to them in English. It shows them you're trying and it makes them laugh.

Have Fun!

I agree with Four Play. The Latin quarter is really neat (and he's correct on the geography)... and being able say at least a few phrases in French helps with the locals. I taught myself a few out of a travel book on the plane!

Montmartre has like one street with all the sex shops & peep shows... otherwise it's all yuppy family housing... kinda weird, but then again... it's France and all the Frenchies are weird! :-?
