The same Creator who names the stars also knows the names of the seven souls we mourn today. The crew of the shuttle Columbia did not return safely to Earth; yet we can pray that all are safely home.

I remember that Saturday morning very well. I was packing the car getting ready to make the three hour drive to Atlanta to see Jimmy in concert when my grandmother called and asked if I had the TV on. When I said, "No," she told me that the space shuttle had exploded. I couldn't believe it. I turned on to see the coverage, and it was really depressing. About an hour later, I got in the car and headed to Atlanta with Buffett music playing all the way over, but I was not in nearly as high spirits as I usually am when headed to a JB show.
I got there to see that the tailgating was very subdued. Everyone's hearts were with the family and friends of the astronauts. But, right before the show started, JB came out and announced that he was dedicating the show to those who were killed. As always, the show was great, and it almost felt like the show was a celebraton of the life of the astronauts. That was a very classy and appropriate move by JB.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all the family and friends of the victims. I hope that they can somehow be comforted by the fact that these astronauts died doing something they loved to do.
I will never forget. It was the day of my 1st JB concert Feb 1st Philips Arena, Atlanta, GA. This is also the home of CNN, so it all seams like a twisted dream.

I will never forget that Saturday morning. I woke up early in hopes of being able to go outside and see it as it flew over Dallas. I didn't make it outside in time - I got delayed. I heard the explosion and knew something terrable had gone wrong. It was a long wait watching the news waiting for that confirmation of what my heart was telling me.
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.

She sure was, and when he did Why Don't We Get Drunk, he kept saying, "Sorry, Mom!" The look on her face was precious.
