Am I the only brit who's heard of Jimmy Buffett?

I recently discovered the wonderful world of Jimmy Buffett whilst on holiday on a Caribbean cruise for our honeymoon. We met some wonderful friends, one of which was an American called Stefan from Colorado who happened to sing 'Fins' for a talent contest!

We both liked it so much that when I got back to UK, I started asking friends, family and work collegues if they'd heard of Jimmy Buffett - everybody without exception replied 'WHO?!!!'

My wife and I feel like we are the only people this side of the pond who appreciate Jimmy's music and attitiude to life. We have made it our mission to 'spread the good news' of JB in the UK! We have successfully recruited 3 of our friends already and I play Radio Margaritaville in the office at work (as I'm the boss, people HAVE TO listen to it!!).

My one burning question is this: Does Jimmy ever do World / European Tours (particularly UK)? and does he plan to visit us any time in the future or am I going to have to buy an air ticket and fly to the U.S to see him live? :D

Let us know when you're coming to the states. Not sure when that UK tour is going to happen.

Welcome to the madness all the same! I had to send another brit a CD because she kept asking why I traveled all over the US to see this "old guy" in concert.

Good to meet you friend!

My firend in Colorado had to send us a CD as we can't get him any where in UK!!!

Even Apple I-Tunes only has 3 albums of his - one from 1982 and one from 1990!!

Come on Apple, sort it out!

Let me be one of the first to say - Welcome PHriend (the PH stands for Parrot Head - aka "a Jimmy Buffett Fan." I think it's great that you've discovered his music. It was a life altering thing for me. A "see the light" moment if you will. His music has touched all of us in a unique way and I'm glad you and your wife are oPHicial Parrot Heads. We need to send him the 10-12 steps of being a parrot head. Can anybody find that and post it.

If you can make the Trip to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to see Jimmy this year, it's a great place to see Jimmy with a very big and loyal fan base and a great airport to fly into.

Thanks for such a Warm welcome fellow PH's!

When is the great man playing Pitsburg? I have to see him live! Sounds a great place to see him.

We were planning on visiting US at end of Feb for skiing, will he be playing anywhere near the main U.S ski resorts?

He's playing Florida in February and the last time I checked Florida doesn't get any snow. What part of the country are you visiting?

thanks Red parrott

We had been looking at Colorado area. America is an enormous country so sometimes it's hard to envisage the distance between places. You can travel from one end of Great Britain to the other in under 12 hours in a car, I guess it's a bit different in the States!!!

Maybe we'll forget the snow and divert to Florida instead?

When is he in your parts?

Welcome aboard. Love to hear the PH kingdom is growing. You've got to make it to a show, I promise it will be the craziest concert you have ever seen. Chicago shows are great here in the midwest of USA.

Take care and enjoy

He'll be in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Feb. 23. There are some places to ski in the North Carolina mountains, but it's not any where near as good as the skiiing in Colorado. But it might be an option for you to get to a show AND hit the slopes while you're in the U.S.

Hope you get to see a show, and welcome to BN! :D

Can any fellow PHs advise how I go about getting tickets? We'd obviously need to get the tickets before we arranged the flights etc. Does anybody sell tickets outside of US?

Thanks Captain!

I've just visited the site. Tried to find out some more information about joining but the server is very slow at the moment, so may try again tomorrow.

Your statement on the home page sums up the whole point of this thread!!!

Not sure if tix are still available for any of these shows. But I assume you can purchase tix through ticket master in the UK.

you may also try the ticket exchange on this board if there is a particular show you'd like to see.

UK fan, here you are on another thread. Great to see you've gotten connected up with your fellow local parrotheads. Not if, but when you come to the US for a concert, you will have a great time. Be sure to dress appropriately and be ready to have a great time. This site will help you know when and where to find Jimmy live. I was going to recommend a Buffett video, but I'm sure the format is wrong. However, there is a DVD mini-matinee and a DVD portion that accompanies the Live in Hawaii CD that was released this year. The Hawaii you have to get directly from Mailboat records. If you can purchase from Amazon.com, that is a great way to build your Buffett library as they carry just about anything Buffett has done. Sounds like you and your wife have some catching up to do. BN will help you with your accelerated program. Cheers.

Another pommie!!!

Welcome!

And the answer to the question on world tours, is that he will visit the UK after he tours Australia   (ie, you got two chances - buckleys and none :-? )

Thanks Quiet & shy. Eveyone is so friendly on this site I already feel like I discovered JB years ago rather than months ago!

Just one thing concerns me.....

What do you mean 'dress appropriately' - like a fruitcake?
