Just wondering what BNrs think about Valentines day. I'm neither here nor there with it, but it's always fun when hubby does something special for me!

I used to love it but after years of not getting a thing from my loved one and then picking out my father's casket on valentines day I kinda got away from it for a while - so did my son. But we're both coming around. He talked about giving a couple of girlfriends valentines this year and for the first time in years I'm actually looking forward to my Valentines!!! And I know I'm getting a gift - my sweetie is coming to see me!!! Now that's a gift if you ask me!! :D :D

Valentine's Day is just another example of the man beating down single people. And it's a conspiracy between Hallmark and the candy companies.

NO JUSTICE, NO PIECE (of chocolate)

Valentine's Day is for people who are anticipating getting laid.

Unfortunately, I am not one of those people.

I don't mind it.The only thing is,its not a surprise or romantic anymore.sorta expected.and the other thing is its my birthday that day and it cost me.almost like having your birthday on christmas.the only thing is my girlfriend lives in Atlanta so i'll send a dozen or 2 dozen roses.

It can be surprising and romantic if you and she want to make it that way. Any day can be turned into a surprising romantic day with some effort.

We usually go out somewhere quite extravagant for dinner . . . any time like that with just the two of us is romantic and intimate. As others have said, this doesn't have to coincide with February 14th.

I hate it, partially for reasons too sad to talk about here, but also because I'm gift-giving impaired and have exhausted myself through Christmas & birthdays, & have lost interest by 2/14. I don't want to give anything & don't care if I get anything. A nice dinner (on a different evening when everyone else is at home) suits me just fine. It's nice to have a day set aside to remember and celebrate the romance, but I wish it was in June or something.

I have a friend who sends out 60+ hand-made valentine cards every year. I don't understand it & have said as much to her. She thinks of it, I guess, in terms of 3rd grade valentine cards. I think of it as my valentine being someone to whom I've given my heart. Whatever. I just want to have a nice dinner with the love of my life. I vote for once a month or more, the heck with little nekkid bow-and-arrow yielding cherubs!
