BUFFETT SCANDALS TRUE OR FALSE? TELL ME YOURS

Post by don juan »

When you travel a lot you always meet people who claim to have known Buffett. I have heard a lot of "semi true" stories about JB here are three that might actually be true who knows. After you read if you know them to be TRUE or FALSE post a reply or leave your semi true story about Buffett.

1.) A friend of mine in a band said he worked a theater in Arizona in 1974
or 76 and Buffett played there. Late in the night a roadie sprayed Jimmy with a water pistol and Buffett paid three guys $100 each to throw him from a second story window into the deep end of the pool no injurys.

2.) The Save the Manatte campaign began as community service
from a drug charge. So says a guy who's parrots were used
in Buffett promo shots.

3.) Fraternty member at ECU said that in 1991 about 1:00 in the
morning a knock was heard on the frat house door. They
opened it and Jimmy Buffett walked in he had driven over from
the ampitheater at Raleigh where he had played a show. He
hung out about an hour drank some beers was "nice but cocky"
then left.

True or False info or other storys please 8) :D

wow.
response to #1-If your "friend" can't remember when (within a 2 year span) he worked at a theatre, how reliable is his memory when it comes to a specific event???

Item #2-Learn how to spell "Manatee" before you perpetuate rumors about them.

Item #3-Jimmy walks in blind to a random frat house after a show.
....yeah, right.

'Nuff said.

Re: No. 1 -- I've heard that story about the belly-buster high dive, except he missed the entire pool!
Re: No. 2 -- No, it was the guy who owned the parrots who was working the community service for drug charges ... Actually, they were African parakeets, and he taught them how to fuss, how to cuss and how to pull the cork out of a bottle of wine!
Re: No. 3 -- Yes, it's true, except Jimmy drank everyone under the table at the frat house and was the last man standing. He then found the closest local thing to a Fausto's Food Palace and drank some chocolate milk.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it....

Hey guys,
I was at ECU then and that was the word around campus. He played alot in Greenville back in the early 70's (at the attic). By the way, the show that year in Raleighwood was GREAT, one of his best!!!!!

Unless they have pictures to back up what they said. :-?

OK. Let me redeem myself here.

#1-Doubt it. Jimmy is not so stupid as to open himself up to a liability like that. Even back then.

#2-It was cofounded in 1981 by Jimmy and former Florida Governor Bob Graham. Who had the drug charge?

#3-Like Joni said, show me pictures. Second best would be someone who was actually there (or at least claims they were there, would probably still want pics).

#4-I DO believe Ilph about Orville Redenbacher though. That must have been so COOL! 8)

Great reply. On #1, I don't think that's how Jimmy would have invested those $$s back in those days. Fictional fact or factual fiction....

I just wish I had a story to share.

On number 3, I have heard about him randomly stopping by his old frats. I have a feeling it is just a bunch of made up drunken college stories, but i could be wrong.

I know someone who has a friend, who's cousin’s sister
(who has actually been to several concert's), who's the
next door neighbor of my Brother-in-law, who knows a
BNer, who actually shook Jimmy’s hand once.

Don't fret any, if you haven't already figured it out, some of these folks around here wouldn't know fun if it jumped up and bite 'em on the ass. :D Post to your hearts content!
