Your really gonna hate the S.I. article that just came out, it totally trashes Jacksonville. I dont know why these sports writers dont get fired, they get free expense paid vacations and all they do is b**** about the cities they go to unless it miami, where its warm and the hookers are cheap. The funny thing is the call people out as trashy, or unattractive but every sports writer is the same as sports radio guys, fat ,old, and bald!!!!!!!!
After hearing the way they trashed on Jacksonville, our Gov. Jenny from the block order the demolition of the vacant buildings in Detroit to start 10 days from now, to try and take some of the ammo away from the dipshits coming to town next year.

Super Bowl
Outside of the Olympics the Super Bowl IS the event any city wants to host. Jacksonville did it and will get the economic impact from that. There were 3 cruise ships in the St. James river on which many people stayed, in lieu of hotels. My wife was there, her company is a NFL advertising partner and they host clients who run NFL programs during the year. They stayed on the ship. Shuttle buses were arranged by her company to take people to all of the events. The Super Bowl is primarily a corporate event, so transportation was arranged for the majority of those attending. Cabs may have been hard go catch for the individuals, but a large portion of they people were shuttled around Jacksonville.
FWIW, I didn't hear many of the media complaining about the city.

Actually there were 5 cruise ships brought in, with 3 Holland America
ships docked adjacent to one another in our industrial port area. I was
wondering how our guests would view staying in a less-than-touristy
section of town, but it seems they were shuttled in and out of there fast
enough not be too put off by it too much.
As far as cabs, Jacksonville is definitely NOT a taxi-laden city. Using a
cab here is practically unheard of and everyone who can afford to drives
their own vehicle. Think of L.A. without the glamour & lights. (We have
the "swimmin pools", but not the "movie stars".
)
There were a lot of "for hire" vehicles brought into town to try to cover
for the city's lack of adequate cab service. This is one of the results...
Police chase limousine
Jacksonville police said they chased a stolen limousine, which had five people
inside who had been calling for help, through the city's Northside and along
Interstate 95 on Friday night.
Police said the vehicle was reported stolen in Georgia. About 9 p.m., police
began pursuing the vehicle traveling northbound along Interstate 95. It
was brought to a rest after officers placed Stopsticks in the road near
Duval Road that punctured its tires, officials said. Stopsticks are small
spikes that officers place in the road to puncture tires.
The limousine then traveled 5 miles until its rims were damaged and
caught on fire, officials said.
Police arrested a Georgia man after the car came to a rest and charged
him with grand theft auto and five counts of false imprisonment.
The five people inside told authorities that they had leased the vehicle for
the night. When asked if the limousine was going to the Super Bowl,
officials said they did not know.
The passengers' story is here

I really appreciate the input from everyone who has posted. There was
so much hype in the local media that it was hard to get a subjective view.

Unfortunately, it won't help much, there are so many it will turn D'town into a field! Wait, that's a bad thing? After getting trashed after each golf event, Devils night, and the upcoming MLB All-Star game, how bad could the Super Bowl write up be?msu#1 wrote:After hearing the way they trashed on Jacksonville, our Gov.
