It was a pleasure and a hell of an evening
Truly was our night to win
But the authorities insist on my leaving
Take care my American friend

In a case of "right time, right place," the morning after the Friday Fenway show, I walked down Boylston St in Boston to see the building where my grandfather used to work (and where I used to visit as a kid). I was talking to PHAW on the phone, looked up, and almost dropped the phone. There was Jimmy, out for walk, and I had the opportunity to say hi. I asked him how it felt, as a baseball fan, to play a show in Fenway Park. He grinned and his eyes lit up like a kid's on Christmas morning: "Unbelievable!"
I was with Jen that night after she met Jimmy. And we met Mac that nite too!

It's funny. This thread reminds me of stories people told me while
I was our PHC's Membership Chairperson last year. The "newbies"
seemed to need to tell me their JB connections...

One lady said she was Mike Utley's typing teacher in school. She
didn't look old enough to have done that, but I like to believe her.

Another story was about how the new member and her sisters were
on a beach in Biloxi with their mom when she was small and this nice
young man with a guitar walked up and asked mom if it was alright
for him to sing them a few songs. He was going into the music business
and needed to try out some material on an audience. She's just certain
the "pretty girls ... swimmin' in the sea" that "all look like sisters in the
ocean" were she and her sisters. I didn't have the heart to tell her that
Jesse Winchester, not JB, wrote that song. And considering
that she seemed to be about the same age as Jimmy, I don't think he
was strolling the beach with a guitar when she was 8.

As for a connection between me and Jimmy? I bough Heather Dee P a
wig last MoTM... does that count for anything? And I've been in the same
room with him a few times. A big ol' room with a few thousand other people,
but the same room anyway!

There's a FedEx guy who delivers pacakges to my office. They obviously get their paychecks from the same company. How's that?

I probably couldn't even come up with 12 degrees of separation! :(

Although I have chatted with a few BN'ers who have shook the
hand of the man! :D

Met him once, shook his hand, got a picture, that is just about it. Said a few words. One of my favorite moments of my life. Though not as impressive as some of your connections, but I still love it, isnt that all that matters?

My brother-in-laws girlfriend (now ex-gf) used to date a guy who's best friend would deep-sea fish with Jimmy.

let's see. . .

1 - have met, talked to him 5 times since 1992
2 - he blew me a kiss - once
3 - he kissed me on my cheek - once
4 - I kissed him on the cheek - once
5 - touched his leg while he was sitting beside me - once
6 - he named us the balcony girls and has said hello to us
10-15 times since 1996

does that count ?

please understand this is not bragging - just saying how lucky we've been - and how long we have been fans .

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Jimmy pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.
Oh, wait a minute, that was Ferris Bueller.
