I think that would be a more appropriate name for Kenny Chesney's new CD. After all, that's what his whole career is about. I remember the first time I saw Chesney was at Cotton Eye Joes in Knoxville right at the time he was putting his first record out. They introduced him and he strolled out onto the dance floor and done a few songs. He was wearing roach killer cowboy boots with bright shiny tips on them (for those of you that wear shiny tips on your boots, be advised that you are being laughed at behind your back every time you go out in public), a pair of levi jeans that looked about 6 inches too short and a cowboy hat that must have been shaped by Ronnie Milsap. The point is that this guy was not anywhere close to being a cowboy and had never wore any of that stuff until he signed a record deal. Oddly enough, he didn't do any Buffett songs or even sing about the beach. But, I guess that was before some of his friends in the business turned him on to Buffett. He was fake then and he is fake now. The only thing that Kenny Chesney and Jimmy Buffett have in common is that they both sing about Jimmy Buffetts life. Jimmy has lived the songs that he sings about. Kenny Chesney has not.

So c'mon Kenny, for once in your life, why don't you really just Be as you are and quit trying to be as Jimmy Buffett is.

Well said! I don't believe he is a cowboy either. I would respect him more if he would just be himself. Sorry if that offends the Chesney Nazis.
I find it odd that no one gives Alan Jackson a hard time here. He has recorded "Buffett type" songs. Had #1 hits with those songs. Won awards for those songs. I don't see the outrage about Alan Jackson. Could it be that people respect him because he isn't trying to be something he's not? Just wondering.

Like I've said before if you don't like the fact there's a KC Discussion because you hate it so much TAKE IT TO THE OWNER.

If you were at a party and people were talking about something that you didn't like would you keep on butting in telling everyone how you hated their subject and calling them Nazi's for likeing their subject.

If you did I wouldn't be surprised if you got your lights punched out.

I guess what get's everyone's goat is that folks like Pirate Lookin at 40 makes a point to come in here and bash KC just because he doesn't like him. The fact that he actually takes the time to search for something he can use against him makes you think he really has it bad for ole KC.
I remember watching an interview with KC many moons ago and he talked about playing Buffett tunes during his set list and reading about how back in high school while on spring break driving down A1A and listening to

To be honest with you when KC first came out I wasn't a big fan of his at all. I started liking him when his music started to change and he sang about things I could relate to. I don't care how he began or what he wore back in the day that sh*t is so elementary. You could probably pick a hand full of artist who have at one time changed their look, music etc... that's just the way it goes...so how about we find something better to do guys than to come in here and say negative things and leave this forum to people who actually like KC and his music. Is that to much to ask? honestly?? You've shared your opinion and everyone knows how you feel so can we just move on?

I took this as a negative thread. I have tried to stay out of the treads worshiping KC. If you like KC and you know it's a negative thread, why would you come here? Seeme to me the "shiat starters"would apply to the pro KC crowd in this case. Who really cares? I am not going to get mad at anyone or call them names because they like or dislike KC. It's just not that important. It's like Isreal and Palestine. KC fans and non KC fans. Will we ever agree. Probably not. Hopefully no one gets hurt in the process.

I agree it's a negative thread and at the same token when someone post something negative on a Buffett thread people will react. You wish people would let that Parrothead attitude show a bit instead of the typical troll attitude.

For the record, I have never questioned the KC section of this web site. I have no problem with it. I think it's GOOD that Jim did it. More power to him. I completley understand why he did it.
The fact is, is that people dislike KC as much as you like him. Everyone is free to post their opinion. Sorry if you can't accept that. Maybe some people are sick and tired of all the KC is so great, he'sthe 2nd coming of Buffett talk?

If the people who think he should not do island music had one ounce of musical talent they would probably be doing island songs so what's the big deal about somebody else doing them?
And I never said he was the second coming of Buffett.
There are tons of artists out there doing this kind of music, with Buffett being the biggest or even the one who inspired it but that does not mean that every artist that does island style music sucks.
I for one look forword to a new Jim Morris cd more than a Jimmy or Kenny one. There is plenty of room for everyone without it being some kind of silly competition.

I don't see the big deal in it. I don't care what he chooses to record. I haven't been a fan of any of it. Maybe someday he will do something that I like?

I would imagine that is WHY Jim made a KC dedicated thread though......so people who don't want to hear/read about KC don't half too. But when there are sane threads about a subject and someone pops in and says "so and so stinks" it is pointless. That is the point....

I think the whole point of this new album is that he is finally living what he is writing and singing about. Of course up until this album, he didn't even write most of his songs. I don't blame him for the early cowboy look, probably the only way to break into country music. The man had a marketing degree, was he supposed to show up in a business suit? I don't think this is a great album, no shoes, no shirts, no problems is my favorite of his. But I give him a lot of credit for writing the songs, and a few of them are pretty good. I don't even see much of a connection to Buffett other than the steal drums and island life lyrics. Buffett doesn't even have that many songs like that.
