tampa tailgate info INJUNCTION info
i just called the fordamp about the feb 26th show. this info was made public today and its straight from the people that answer the phones at the ford amp.
here goes.
gates open at noon, margaritaville tequilla will be there along with other vendors, live music, lots of contests and the lady told me bring the party, bring the booze.
no tailgating is normally allowed at this venue but they are letting loose for this event.
there is also a hearing that morning on whether or not to issue an injucition to stop concerts at this venue. i asked her about that and she said, i know nothing about that, thats in the courts hands all i know is that there is going to be a big party there that day.
another thing about the injunction. what judge takes a hearing on a saturday morning. i hate to speculate but why would they do that unless they are going to rule in favor of this injunction. someone with more legal knowledge can help me out with this.
maybe the people at the amp know this is going to be last show for a while so they are going to try and get crazy to really "p*** of the neighbors" thats what i would do.
hope to see you all there.
the weather is great here right now 78 and sunny another florida winter afternoon.

Did she mention that a concert ticket is needed to enter the lot?
All pre-party info I've seen said this is necessary.
I think it's a good and bad policy, keeps out much riff-raff only there for a party and make a mess (ala Lakewood) but hurts PH's looking for tickets day of show.
We have tickets already so we're good either way.

i dont know, i dont know, i dont know..................if a ticket is needed to enter the parking lot, i agree with that policy, its easy enough to buy a ticket right outside the gate or along the road if you really want to get in.
i'm wondering one thing, what if that injunction is ruled on and goes into effect that morning, what the hell is going to happen. are they going to try and shut it down. tell everyone to go home, are they not going to allow people in the parking lot (i dont see that happening)
if there is a riot its going to be the most colorful tequilla induced riot anyone has ever seen

I don't know if anyone heard this, but I got this from the TBPHC listserve:
MORE GREAT NEWS!. I just received an e-mail from the attorney for Clear Channel who owns the Ford Amphitheatre and all parties have agreed to the following stipulation with regard to the vote on shutting down the Amphitheatre on concert day. Following is the stipulation that all parties have signed:
"STIPULATION
The parties stipulate and agree that the outcome of the February 26, 2005 hearing on Plaintiff's motion for temporary injunction shall have no effect on the Jimmy Buffett concert scheduled to be held at the Ford Amphitheatre on Saturday, February 26, 2005. The show will go on.
Done-February 22, 2005 in Tampa, Florida."
So, it sounds like all systems are a GO! I must say I've been a little disappointed in the tailgating experience (or lack thereof?) at Ft. Lauderdale and Jacksonville. I have high, HIGH hopes for Tampa to turn that around

WOOOOOOO HOOOO that excites me. And trust me..TAMPA WILL BE KICKIN"! it's an outdoor venue...and that makes allll the difference. No crappy asphalt lot here...alll grass baby...and a very expansive one at that...it wraps all over the place and it's alll connected
All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz & i'm fine

Hey, I was there at Jacksonville. Tailgating was great. We started around noon and kept going. Jacksonville always gets the bad press. We put on a very good Super Bowl and the tailgating and the Buffett Show were great. Jimmy, put Jacksonville on your list for every year!!!!martini mary wrote:I don't know if anyone heard this, but I got this from the TBPHC listserve:

I didn't mean to sound like I was putting down Jax - I like the place, and I was there for SB weekend as well. It's just that I am a little spoiled since my first intro to JB was at Great Woods and I became accustomed to the madness surrounding it. It's hard not to compare all tailgate parties to that one, but I'm tryingjhamel wrote:Hey, I was there at Jacksonville. Tailgating was great. We started around noon and kept going. tailgate party
I'll certainly be bringing the party, aka the balcony girls (you know who you are!). You'll see us-- we'll be the first ones in line at that noon gate opening! I can hardly wait. My last concert was Birmingham! I'm long overdue for good Buffet bash.
