Jimmy Buffett Speech

Post by phansheridan »

I am writing an informative speech on Jimmy for a course I am taking. The speech is only 4-6 minutes long so I can only touch on the basics but right now I am including how he is the only person to have a NY Times #1 best seller in fiction non fiction and a number one song, alittle about his religious upbringing, how he ended up in nashville, new orleans and eventually key west, his different businesses under the margaritaville umbrella (tequila, shrimp, cafes, stores ect), also the parrotheads and how they have a reputation for partying but how local parrothead clubs have such a dedication to public service projects, is there anything major (or not so major) that I am forgetting

you probably want to mention something about his love of flying, sailing, surfing, fly fishing, and traveling the tropical & exotic places of the world. A lot of that formed the basis of his songs, and that, along with his business smarts led to his phenomenal life and career that we all want to emulate........

I did something like that last year except it had to be thirty minutes long..........its hard to get it all in even with half an hour..................I went through His biography and I discussed some songs and read some good excerpts from his books......I also went trough his business dealings and talked about how well known Parrot Heads are for partying, but how much more they are known for being nice and charitable helping good people. I also told a funny Jimmy story and I told about the Heat game and the plane crash and Jamaica Mistaka.........At the end I showed the Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes video from Tales From Margaritavision.......the speech ended up being like forty-three minutes...

Good luck to you....I think you will have a hard time fitting it all in four minutes.........but it sounds like it will be good and people will learn a tremendous amount.......

Are you penalized for going over the time limit? If not go a little longer. You will really enjoy this speech and good luck...........Fins up 8) 8) 8) 8)

Wow that is reallllll weird. I have to give a 4-6 minute informative speech as well. What school do you go to? That may be the weirdest thing in the world if we are taking the same class or something?

So everyone please continue to provide good ideas because I am doing the EXACT same thing.

It would be a total riot if you were actually in the same class and you were both doing it on JB, but didn't find out until the other one started giving his speech.

Jimmy #5 in reveues

Post by Mango Picker »

And most recently, Jimmy is reported at #5 in money making on tour revenues for 04.

I think it is in a previous news item.

Saw it again this morning on CNN...

Note that Jimmy does not manage all this by himself... He has HK Mgt running much of it for him and he gets a piece of that.

Yea we are supposed to use two presentational objects during the speech. I think I will put together some sort of collage and bring it to Kinko's to blow it up of all the tailgating necessaties (margaritas, coconut bras, grass skirts, etc. etc. etc.).
