I need a crash course on recording tonight's concert

Post by Jimmy4pres »

Hi again!
Can someone give me a crash course on recording concerts broadcast over the 'net?

What software can you use? I assume that Windows Media player will not allow you do it, but I do not know for sure. Is there any free software titles out there that will accomplish this?

Thanks in advance! :D

It is pretty easy but you will need a program if you want a good rip. Try this link for an explanation and suggestions

There used to be a free copy of Total Recorder, but I'm not sure anymore.
We paid for ours and really enjoy it.
And it is easy to use :D

I use Total Recorder as well...I really like it. It's well worth the $20 per year.

I think there is just a free demo copy of TR. It will only record for 10 minutes.

Go to High Critera.com

Download and pay for registration number...it's good for as long you you want to use it or want to upgrade or change computers.

Make sure you have the right encoder to record as mp3 on the fly. Go to options, settings, and make sure Lame encoder (Dll) selected. You must have this encoder file in your Total Recorder folder. If you don't do this, you will record as a wav file and it will be huge.

Select Convert using Recording parameters-- should be set to mp3 settings of 128 kbits/s and 44 100 Hz, Stereo.

The normal (?) edition will allow you to record while you are home. The PRO edition will allow you to set the timer on and the url. Many times this is not trust-worthy...as an interruption in connection can cause TR to or buffer and then you will not have the time set right. To me KISS is the best advice.

After recording and saving the file to your music folder. Open Total recorder and find file. Then you can use the track markers to mark selections. Work with it some...it is easy. Then save selection to save each track into another folder for this show.

Good luck!

I have been able to record with TR, I just can't figure out how to add track increments.

I've resorted to recording each half separately and burning it as is.

My biggest fear is that when I die, my wife will sell all my Buffett stuff for what I said I paid for it!

Use this it works great. http://www.milosoftware.com/cdwave/
Also I would save it as a large file wave and you will not have as much distortion when you cut and burn it.

www.goldwave.com you could figure it out in about an hour or so and it's free.
after downloading and installing it and opening it...
Just click on the box with a check mark and black circle on it ...it should bring up a prorpites box...make sure unbound is checked then make sure volume is set to about 85% "what you hear" or soundcard. then click new and record....easy as that. Afterword hit the record button agin to stop it and click file save as to be able to save it as MP3. IT's the best free way to do it that i have found and I really like what all you can do with goldwave....you can even divide up the tracks later on. I should be on AIM tonight if anyone needs a hand. asuwookie Good luck and stay persistant with it! FINZ UP!!!!!!!! WHOOO!!!!!

Go to www.download.com and see if you can find something there
Fall semester in a Southern college town has little to do with studying and more to do with football and fraternity rush. I didn't know much about the football team. Hell at that time I was really an Ole Miss fan and to this day I still cant figure out why I didn’t enroll at the U of Mississippi-JB
