Like him or not Kenny Chesney is good for Parrotheads, he tours in alot of places that Jimmy does not go anymore exposing his type of music to different areas as well as the demographics of Kenny Chesney fans and jimmy Buffett fans while some similarities exist are also very different. Kenny brings drunk Caribbean rock and roll to a whole new audience. As much as I hate to think about it or admit it, Buffett has 10 years or so, if that left of touring, when Jimmy stops touring the only real other alternative for the Caribbean rock music right now is Kenny. He is not a replacement for Jimmy just an alternative, as long as he gives Jimmy the credit for paving the way for Kenny's music to be socially accepted like it has been, I don't see any problem. As far as being a Jimmy Buffett rip off, just remember that creativity is only undetected plaugarism

Miami Herald, 2/13/05: Interview with Jimmy Buffett:

"Q: And now Kenny has recorded a beach album, last week's No. 1 Be As You Are, in which he tries to be you.

A: It's flattering. Some people say I should be p*** off about it but I'm really not. The beach is free. As I said before, I was the first singer to go to Key West, but I certainly wasn't the first writer. As shameless plagiarists we all steal from everybody else; that's part of the process. I consider that a good thing. Hell, I stole from Harry Belafonte and Gordon Lightfoot and Joni Mitchell. ... It's the highest form of flattery, and I'm fine with it."

Well, if Jimmy's fine with it ....

At least he showed up to Merriwether this past year, unlike Jimmy. I can't stand having to go to Nissan.

what don't you like about Nissan?? Last year was my first time there and with the exception of those from hell stairs I liked the place. I thought the tailgate was awesome but that could be because my fiancee popped the question there  :D

and I'm not talking the question "Hon will you get me another beer"

Besides the fact that I grew up walking from my house to the Buffett concerts, Nissan only has a one lane road in and out. What a pain. The first time I went to a Nissan concert was for DMB. Without knowing any better I left Laurel at 5:30, concert started at 8, didn't get to my seat until 9.

At Merriwether you also have the option of parking at the Columbia Mall, which is just across the street, and very easy to get out of after the concert.
