Best Concert Stories

Mine will always be 8/26/2000 - Columbia, MD. I had gotten tickets through the Ocean City Parrothead Club. One of the other members runs a bar called Fish Tales, and they are friends with Capt. Tony. The club got him a ticket as well since he was up visiting. They spent part of the concert trying to convince security this old guy was a friend of Buffett's. But alas, couldn't get him backstage. But somehow word got up front to Buffett on stage, and he ended up singing Last Mango In Paris, with Capt Tony in the seat in front of me. Now that was magical.

How about finding out you are front row, dead center right before you walk into the arena?

wow - I love these stories -
even with our good luck, we have never scored really good seats . One time we went with "seat-seats" that were about 40 rows back. Jimmy still managed to see us and said "hey, Balcony Girls ! glad to see you got better seats !"

I've heard of a girl who got married in the parking lot once.

At the Dallas show in Teaxas Stadium last year I was on the field, about 30-35 rows back. My friend Bruce was in the 4th row. When George Strait finished his set I started walking up front to talk to Bruce. He was coming back to get me, someone behind him was leaving after Strait. I wound up seeing Buffett from the 5th row, dead center. Troy Aikman was in the front row.

I scored 7th row seats once in Pittsburgh and it was amazing. Without question the soberest I have been for a Jimmy concert ever! I also remember the "infamous" Buckeye Lake show in 1993 which was the all-day festival that was an absolute blast! (I guess thats more a memory than a story..lol). I would add Jimmy doing killer versions of Uncle John's Band the day of and day after Jerry Garcia's death. AHHHH so many fun stories from Jimmy concerts.

When he dropped by "The Sports Page" in Mt. View before the concert at Shoreline ... the Banana Wind Tour. It was quite incredible. We walked into the outdoor bar area (this is the official PH pre-party spot), and there he was ... just leaning in the doorway, drinking a corona, and GASP ... smoking a cigarette. Everyone there knew what was going on, and were content to let him just enjoy the madness. He appeared amused at all the craziness, and enjoyed the fact that he was left alone to walk around and speak to a few fans.
I couldn't believe my eyes, and thought it was a hoax of some kind. But the owner verified that it was JB, and that "his people" had called earlier to see if it would be a non-frenzy place for Bubba to visit.
That was the best. Later, the "Hemisphere Dancer" winged it's way over the bar to Moffett Field. Just Magical.

Last year at Alpine Valley was the BEST! We had VIP parking and got on Parrotvision less than ten minutes after we got out of the car! (We weren't even drunk yet!!!) Last year rocked ....tenth row seats and we saw ourselves on the big screen!

Had tickets to second row center for last year at San Diego. Not sure I can ever get that good again but what a great time. I will never forget that night. I caught one of Jimmy's yellow wrist bands.

Alpine 2002, I won the costume contest, and got to go onstage with Jimmy, and he called me over and asked me a couple questions, when I never anticipated to be required to speak, and I had been dranking A LOT, and my answers still haunt me.

I want a mulligan! But it was still an amazing experience and a thrill of a lifetime, and they didn't have to call 911, which I fully expected to happen.
Runner up was Vegas 10/16/04, where we upgraded our seats to empty ones on the side of the stage, (who wants to see big gaps up front when they're performing) and actually got to interact with Jimmy (and Jim) for the rest of the show. That was phenomenal as well!

Well I think I have one of the best ticket or should I say non ticket stories. I hadn't missed a Buffett show in years and of course with all the craziness going on with corperate sponsers and so forth it has become rediculous trying to just buy tickets. It was Saturday August 30, 2001, I fugured I would go to Greaty Woods (Boston) and try to get some last minute tickets from a scalper. When I got there with a friend who hadn't ever been to a show, we walked around asking everybody for tickets. When we got close to the gates someone heard us asking for tickets and they repilid you don't need tickets look over there. Much to our surprise we saw a metal baracade you know the ones that look like bike racks where you lock your bike, tipped up on it's side against the outer fence of Great Woods. Everybody and their sister who didn' have tickets was climbing over and many who didn't have tickets were pondering weather to or not to. It didn't take me that long to realize this was the only way I was going to see Jimmy this year so I went for it. Even with flip flops on I have never climbed a fence so fast. When we got over it was like seeing OZ, it was Christmas in August. Since I didn't pay for tickets I did buy some t-shirts with the money. This was one of the best shows I had been to, I think because it was the show that almost wasn't. The only thing is, I save my ticket stubs from all the shows, what will I save from this show? I guess just the memory of the show and how I got in is enough for me. Just to let you all know I have bought tickets for every show since. I hope the statute of limitations has ran out.

My best experience .. so far....... 2 days before the 9-10 Fenway show last year I scored 2nd row seats from TM (last min release of tickets I assume). Best seats I have ever had to a JB concert. Then nearing the end of the last song I noticed a Black SUV parked next to the stage headed toward the large door at Fenway under the bleachers. My son and I positioned ourselves as close as we could assuming this was the "Getaway Vehicle" .. and sure enough as soon as he was done singing the body guards moved him right into the SUV barely allowing him time to wave at the group of us that had stood there to watch. We exited as quickly as possible and saw him in the SUV go by with a Boston Police motorcycle escort. VERY AWESOME

One year we were in Atlanta setting up for some tail-gating. It was pretty early in the day, so the parking lot was not yet crowded. All of a sudden we looked up and here comes a beautiful silver Porsche - and in it was Jimmy, just waving and grinning ! He zipped thru so quickly, no one had a chance to react - that is except BG#2 . Off she goes with arms flailing in the air - like she was chasing a bus that just pulled away ! I can still see that image in my head ! ! !
we're fearless I tell you !
p.s - unfortunately , she was not successful !

Standing on a runway in Loveland, CO in a grass skirt and flip flops, watching my two best friends negotiate a landing through an April snow storm. One owns a little four seater and they made the flight from Chicago. The night before, they had to make an emergency landing in Iowa when the landing gear wasn't locking (fire engines, ambulances, the whole nine yards). Luckily, it did, but my buddy the pilot said he really thought it would be a bad one.
The non-pilot of the two gets air sick and puked the entire two days of flying. He literally rolled out of the plane and threw up in the snow the second he plane pulled up to my car. We arrived in Denver and hit the Corona VIP party full of free beer and beautiful Corona girls. Everything after that was a blur but I remember being so full of adrenaline all night after my friends almost didn't make it....

It was a beautiful Labor Day weekend Saturday afternoon at Great Woods when just a few feet away from our tailgate group, I was walking by and there was this 4 foot tall volcano with bright red punch erupting. Most everybody including myself drank some who knows what was in it, but it was good. Now to the good part there were these 2 hot girls a bit drunk, one pulled her top almost off put her very nice boobs right in the volcano of eroupting punch she then stood up dripping of punch and the other hottie licked off all the punch. It was fabulous, I was so awe struck I could not get my video camera going in time to get it on tape
