Do or Don't: Sandals and Socks

Do you or don't you wear socks with sandals? Is it a northeast thing? Here in Colorado (not including the Republic of Boulder), it's a major fashion and social faux paux to wear socks with sandals...unless you are a ------- (not that there's anything wrong with that).
What is the BN concensus about socks and sandals?

IMHO it's a no-no. But for some reason around here some guys think it's ok and they don't realize they look like absolute dorks

Not a chance in hell. However, my sister who goes to a rather expensive college says that most of the student's "do". Kids these days.
