I think most people on BN are aware and would be cool.... I hate to say it but there are some out there that are not completely BuffettPC - or wahtever you want to call it. They seem to be younger (sorry - just an observation - I know there are young fans that are cool) At West Palm these drunken college students offered me a shot of what was catsup - I didnt' fall for it and when I walked away they came up to me and dumped the entire bottle of catsup over my head - right before I was about to walk in to the show. Thanks to some friends and bottled water - I went in wet and red.... these guys are the guys who prob slam dunk balls on stage. I am also hearing of people getting stuff stolen during the show -
I guess it is hard for me to think that there are bad parrotheads but with so many people going to the concerts it's hard - so Be careful out there and watch out for flying balls. If I were Jimmy I would just carry a ball popper in my pocket.

Bare Naked Ladies got so tired of getting pelted with Mac and Cheese - they didn't maind the powder but then people started throwing the whole boxes - now they have bins before the sow that you can donate the boxes to charity - but when they sing If I had a million dollars - the crowd still turns orange with powdered cheese!

Is that a ball popper in his pocket, or is he just happy to see you?

I hope he'd have the sense not to carry it in his front pocket :o

well when you finally get to your first show, be sure to take a sharpie with you. grab a ball and sign your name to it, and then send it on it's way away from the stage. good luck

stopped when the music started, myself.

There, I talked about it again!

This sort of behavior goes way beyond what I would call normal or expected at a show. Yet it seems to be increasing. I have to make sure all vehicle decorations are locked inside or securly bolted on these days, I have had a few thefts of not just Buffett items, but anything they can pull off or unscrew from my Jeep. Several of my friends bring their wives to the show, and if some drunken fool ever pulled a stunt like the one above, we'd probably have to bail him out of jail afterwards. I have a scar on my chin from a confrontation with some guy that literally ran into me on the lawn at Cinnci. I remember when I used to go to Buffett and could totally relax and remain blissfully unaware of my surroundings while taking in the concert. Sadly, those days are gone, at least for me. I realize there's always going to be someone who takes things too far, but if the only reason you're buying seats up front is to try to bean the performer with whatever, do us all a favor and stay home. If we all seem to be noticing a change for the worse in the way the crowds behave, you can for sure bet Jimmy is noticing too. How many people his age do you know that have a high tolerance for BS? I wouldn't blame him one bit if he started seriously curtailing his show schedule after getting spiked in the head by a dozen balls or nailed in the eye with beads.
...someplace farther south, where the water's warm, the drink's are cold, and I don't know the names of the players...

Anything coming at a performer, no matter how innocent the intent, is distracting and usually dangerous, either to the person or equipment. It is a really bad practice friends and as fun as it appears to be to some of you I don't think it would ruin your concert experience to eliminate it.

Having been in the 7th and 8th rows a couple of times, I can tell you the perspective of the incoming balls is certainly different from down there than in the mid/top pavillion or lawn. It is annoying, distracting, sometimes painful. Before the show, its fine once the show starts they should be gone. Period. (the couple next to us and us punctured over 100 of the bastages once Jimmy came out)

I remember seeing Travis Tritt in small places and then at the South Carolina Fair and it was fun to toss quarters. Then the idiots got a hold of it, and started whipping them at the stage and every show after that we went to had a announcement that "anyone throwing any object towards the stage would be prosecuted" I would hate to see Jimmy have to go that far to protect his dental work

Hope Buffett never does a cover of Skynyrd's "Gimme Back My Bullets". They had to quit performing that song for obvious reasons even though they were refering to Billboard magazine's idea of bullets, as in "that song is number one with a bullet this week".

There are some venues that search everyone on the way in. Maybe it'll reach the point where they'll start confiscating beach balls.

OK... I'll jump on the ...not during the show bandwagon....

Before the show..... fine.... after the show and during intermission....fine... but during the show is a bit distracting...not to mention rude to the artist and to the audience........
