Yes there are. But we call those people freaks and then we laugh and throw things at them.

Some of my peers who work or have worked in military intelliegence claim that the Nazis first landed on the moon in the late 1940's. I'm not saying this happened or didn't happen. I've just heard a lot of talk through the years.

I believe it happened and we really did land on the moon. I also find this one of the more interesting conspiracy theories going though

The best proof I've heard to confirm that we actually landed on the moon runs something like this:
We were watching live TV coverage of Armstrong and Aldrin walking on the moon. That signal, as well as the radio communications from the LEM, was being sent *from the moon*.
The entire world was watching (including the Russians and the Chinese). If the TV and radio signals were *NOT* coming from the moon but from someplace on earth (like Area 51 or someplace in the Arizona desert), don't you think that the Russians and/or Chinese would have been able to determine this?
And if they had been able to confirm the signals were not coming from the moon, don't you think they would have been immediately and loudly proclaiming it from the rooftops??

Forty years after Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin set foot on the moon, a small cult of conspiracy theorists maintains the historic event -- and the five subsequent Apollo moon landings -- were staged. These people believe NASA fabricated the landings to trump their Soviet rivals and fulfill President Kennedy's goal of ferrying humans safely to and from the moon by the end of the 1960s.
"I do know the moon landings were faked," said crusading filmmaker Bart Sibrel, whose aggressive interview tactics once provoked Aldrin to punch him in the face. "I'd bet my life on it."
Sibrel may seem crazy, but he has company. A 1999 Gallup poll found that a scant 6 percent of Americans doubted the Apollo 11 moon landing happened, and there is anecdotal evidence that the ranks of such conspiracy theorists, fueled by innuendo-filled documentaries and the Internet, are growing.
BN... the voice of the people! (note the 94% believe it really happened!

)
The conspiracy theorists do raise a lot of valid points, though.

I love the fact that Buzz punched Bart Sibel...I'd love to have been at that press conference.
Don't mess with the men of Apollo

OMG. I can't believe some people believe this; that is insane. It is a slap in the face to ANYONE involved with the NASA space program, past and present. I have so many other things to say but, in the interest of keeping things civil here on BN, I won't.

The first one may have been staged, but I don't believe the other ones were.

I hope you don't think I'd argue with you, and I doubt anything you'd say would offend anyone.

Seems to be a landslide against the conspiracy theorists.
I just find it quite interesting the way people can twist, connive, and question just about any topic enough to make others say "huh?". (man on moon, jfk, elvis alive, etc)

No, I don't think you'd argue with me. But, you could if you want, it is your right and this is a
dicussion board.
Deniers just p*** me off. It makes me mad that a particular event could occur, we have documented proof it occured and still a group of people go around saying "no it didn't." I understand it's their right but come on. Give me a break.

You get that with any popular event. Bart, is just trying to get attention with this crap. I was happy Buzz punched him.

Yeah, you are right about the attention. I'm glad Buzz popped him one. If I was there, I would have kicked when he was down on the ground.
I caught part of Apollo 13 on TV the other day. Even if they embelished parts of it for TV (which I don't think they did), it is an awesome story of courage and ingenuity.

There will always be a fringe minority that will argue truth. There were people that believe that JFK survived and was kept in the basement of the White House, others believe that the federal govt blew up the WTC, others blame the jews. Some believe that GWB blew up the levees in New Orleans during Katrina. There are now some that believe FEMA is stockpiling caskets and is in the process of building concentration camps. Crazy sells.

On CNN's home page their current poll is asking if "you think the moon landing was faked". Over 35,000 (15%) have said yes. I wonder if those votes are actually Palm Beach County, Florida, people voting for Buchanan again.

And some people believe F.D.R. intentionally got the U.S. involved in W.W. II by arranging for Pearl Harbor to be bomed, and, still others believe Lyndon Johnson had something to do with the assassination of President Kennedy.
You're right-craziness DOES sell.
