OceanCityGirl wrote:Hey CowboyJunky, very cool. I love the Cowboy Junkies as well as Jack Johnson, and the Libertines who I'll miss since I guess they are fried. It's interesting that diverse people can like the same quirky music. Oddly enough I have two 17yo sons who like the cowboy junkies and jack johnson but really really don't like the Libertines. I think it's the association with emo that does it for them.

Great music is great music so genres and styles are really an invention of the labels and radio stations. That's great that you have sons who can share great music with you. I'll never forget going to concerts with my dad growing up. He took me to any show I wanted from Whitesnake to Duran Duran.

I'm currently going insane thinking about missing this summer's Cowboy Junkies tour. This is their 20th Anniversary tour and they are bringing their older brother out on the road who has never toured with them but played on the landmark Trinity Session album. They played a fund raiser the other night and debuted some amazing covers: U2's "One", Dylan's "License To Kill", and Bruce's "You're Missing" which may appear on a new cd project. The credit card might get dusted off in August for a quick flight to the mainland for a show if prices come down from $700!

Cousin Baxter wrote:It only took three years from my first Jack post where there was only one response http://www.buffettnews.com/forum/viewto ... highlight= to now this... a 3 page J.J. thread. That's GREAT! I have been lucky to catch him many times over the years. I was even lucky enough to see him perform in Santa Barbara years ago where he went to college. I know I've posted it several times before but if you haven't checked out Donavon Frankenreiter yet you're missing out. Ex-pro surfer turned musician and a good friend of Jack's. He's very similar to Jack but with a little more funk. He's very connected to the 70's.
"Free" is one of my favorite songs to blast on the i-Pod as I cruise around the island on my moped. One of those perfect singles that sounds like it's been around forever.
