Maybe he did not get much of audience reaction. In which case he probably wouldn't keep playing it. I bet he swaps it out occasionally as an encore.

He mentioned in JAX that the tour is named for his BOOK, so maybe he wants to make sure that people get it and don't start thinking it's all about the one song from the book. I, too, wish he would sing it, 'cause it's a good song. But as he mentioned, he spent five years writing the book, so I guess that's a good enough reason to name the tour after it. :)

I was at that show!!!! :D
It was awesome. Much smaller than a regular venue. He meant it to be a different kind of show. What he would do was read from his book and tell a story or two, then play a song or two. Then go back to his book for a while and play some more. He had a big screen above him that flashed pics from his life in New Orleans. He talked a lot about his time there and its influence on him. It was a very personal show. He took questions from the audience. Theaters around the nation aired the show live, and a few people were able to ask questions over the phone. Someone in the front row got their book signed, and a 13 year old got Buffett's guitar pick. He played The Wind Cries Mary (not the 13 year old), and since I am a huge Hendrix fan, I really enjoyed it. Equally impressive was If I Had A Boat. He really did an excellent job on those non-Buffett songs. I loved how he played some of his older stuff. I was really hoping for Nautical Wheelers, but Hendrix's song made up for it. There was no tailgating and few elaborate "costumes". Of course I wore my Buffett shirt, as did many others. I can't think of much more to tell. Just ask. It was a one of a kind show that is supposed to come out on DVD. He had never done a show like that before, and we all enjoyed it.

wow, :o that sounds fantastic! We wanted to go to a simulcast but the closest one was 85 miles away and couldn't get a babysitter. I hope they do put out a dvd. We have so much JB music but very little video available. I'm hoping for live cd and dvd from the tour this year. And hoping for a Salty Piece of Land. I agree it's a great song - and a great book (I have one more chapter to go) :)

Missed the Coastal Confessions -- I'm impatiently awaiting the DVD as I'm still trying to recover from the theater power outage that night here in Indy. :-? In the meantime, I'm looking forward to the Vegas show.

As far as the ASPOL song goes, it's a great ballad that winds its way around the book...and he might sell some more books if he plays the song live...come on, JB!!! :o :-? :D

Am I the only one that doesn't think ASPOL is that great of a song? I think I would be disappointed if he played it and left out some of the older ones he's been doing on the current tour(i.e. Presents to Send You, Life is Just a Tire Swing, or Woman Going Crazy). I would much rather hear "If I Had a Boat" live than ASPOL. Just my opinion though...
