some good stuff, some of CM's stock comes from private makers..
You're gonna have to introduce me to Crabman. Sounds like we could throw the ultimate Tequila Tasters Party. By the way, the famous Tequila Tasters nights at El Torito's in the late 80's early 90's, yup that was my gig.

If you can dig up the October 2004 issue of Chile Pepper Magazine, they list their top 10 tequila bars. It may still be online as well. If need be I can find the mag in my archives and post their list. JOHN

Can't afford those $60 a bottle tequilas. A rich friend brought two or three of those even more expensive fancy shmancy tequilas to a pre-concert party one year. I tasted all of them and they nearly killed me (choked, gagged, burned, hurt like heck, tasted like bad pure grain alcohol). :x  No thank you, I'll take my Cuervo, please........you can have the other stuff, welcome to it! :P Now maybe if I'd tasted them IN a margarita, separately, instead of shots..........

LOL I've never tasted pure grain alcohol, let alone BAD pure grain alcohol. Perhaps that is your problem, the bad pure grain alcohol has fried your taste buds. Cuervo is about as close as I have come tasting that. :)

My brother-in-law's a huge tequila affecionado and so I get to mooch off his inventory when at his hacienda - Milagro is a favorite there. But the functionality of tequila, plain & simple, is as a vehicle to a good time... so for me Sauza Commemorativo or Cuervo is just fine.
Now when it comes to savoring a spirit -- single malt scotch is where I get a little snooty... Let's get a single malt scotch thread going guys...Balvenie Double Wood, Alberlour, Bowmore...sweeeet!  8)

And who'd a thunk I might find some tequila affecionados out here. I was actually fishin to see if there might be a few awesome tequila's out there I have yet to try, and where to find them. This fishing trip is a bust. Must be fishing in the wrong hole, Cuervo and Two Fingers? It's like catchin a goldfish while fishing for salmon.

I think the answer you are getting is "There are not many pompous Tequila drinkers here"

Thank you very much for the link to the site. Found a few interesting options I have yet to try. Also found it interesting that you think you know me well enough to imply that I am "pompous". I will defer judgement and take it as a compliment. Thanks again for the link, it is a good one. To the fellow "pompous tequila drinkers" your invite to the tiki bar party before the san jose show will be sent out in a week.

As stated, I take it as a compliment. If ever in Northern California, a stool is reserved for you at the backyard Tiki Bar, 200sq.ft. of drinking and eating paradise. Thanks again, I had not seen that website in my journey for the world's best tequila.

Why the hell would anyone in their right mind go to Northern Califsocialist?
