Homicide: Life on the Street

Post by Parrot Monkey »

Just wanted to know if anyone else here remembers this great police drama show from the 90s. I just finished watching the 6th Season on DVD, and man, I must say that the second to last episode of the season “Fallen Heroes Part 1” contains one of the best moments in television history (those who are into the show know the scene I’m speaking of).

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the series, it’s about the Baltimore Homicide Detective unit dealing with one of the worst crime rates in the country. If you haven’t seen this show, I highly recommend the DVD sets. Yes, like all multi-disc DVD collections, these are quite pricey, but I promise they are wise investments. Not sure if you can rent these, but that would also be a great way to get into the show if you’re not a hard core fan. If you like any one of the Law & Order shows, you WILL like this. Period. In fact, there were two Law & Order crossover episodes with Homicide.

Nothing short of Televison at its best.

That was a damn good show and I used to see them filming all the time. It was great to watch the show and recognize all the places that they were filming at. I lived on a one way street and they had closed off the end of it cause they were filming a scene and we all had to back out of street for the day. It was pretty cool.

Andre Braugher was BRILLIANT in that series.....it had a fabulous ensemble cast....I loved every episode!~! Giardello and the relationship with son in the later seasons....wow...
Sounds like I need to make a trip to Media Play and see if they've got the box set!

I would agree with about everything you said except "Homicide" was a much better show than "Law and Order".

Yes, much more intense and daring than Law & Order. Who knew Baltimore had a much worse crime rate than New York?
