BN Timeline Needs a Timeout

A very impressive opus but missing items are more interesting than items noted. For instance:

No reference to Jim Croce and the friendship/influence JC had on JB.
No reference to Steve Goodman. Duh.
No reference to the night JB appeared on a Chicago bill with Bob
Marley. Was likely at the Quiet Knight circa 1971.

What other interesting Buffett tidbits are missing?

I like that you highlighted JIM CROCE.

He is one of my all time favorites. How good would he be today if he had lived and could you imagine a Buffett/Croce collaboration or tour.

Corce is very very underrated and overlooked.

You can go on and on about Haggard and Jones (and believe me, I like me some Haggard), but nobody ever did a hurtin' song like Croce. Hell of a songwriter and Hell of a guitarist as well.

Wouldn't you have loved to have been a fly on the wall when those two got together and picked along with Gordon Lightfoot????

I believe JB & JC hung out at Croce's farm in Lyndell Pennsylvania and perhaps in Key West circa 1971-1972. When Croce passed on Sept 20, 1973 Buffett was the next guy ABC- Dunhill had in inventory to push. Buffett already had the walrus mustache.

Jimmy moved beyond the folkhouse small club atmosphere that best suited Croce. We are all better off for their meeting. Just too bad JB doesn't tell any storries about it.

I wish he would tell a story about it.....the best way that he knows how, in a song.

I have to chime in on this one....Croce was my "first love"....even before Buffett. The similarities in story telling are obvious....Roller Derby Queen, Speedball Tucker....but the love songs.....wow, Croce got me through some adolescent broken hearts with "Alabama Rain" and the more serious broken heart with "Lover's Cross"........amazing music!
Croce is another one that gets better once you get past the surface "popular" tunes.....the world lost a great one there.

I recently picked up the DVD: "Have you seen Jim Croce Live?"

If you don't have it, it is a must.

Perhaps we should petition the powers that be for a Jim Croce forum here at BN. LOL!!!
