Discussion Board Sued?

Check out what's happening at a jet ski discussion board I belong to;

http://www.pwctoday.com/index.php

PWCToday.com is currently unnavailable due to legal threats aimed at some of our advertisers by Perry Performance Group. In our minds, it is like going after our family because they know that they would not have a case against us.

Stay tuned and we will see what comes next. We may be back. We may not. It is NOT worth letting our advertisers/supporters get sued over things people may say on an internet forum.

Wrong Wrong wrong I don't even know what happened.

There are a lot of pro jet skiers and mechanics on that forum, and apparently this aftermarket company doesn't like what some of them have said about their products. This just happened tonight, so I don't have all the details yet. I'm sure I'll know more tomorrow.

That sucks. And it doesn't make any sense to me. That's like someone suing Ford trucks for last year's Superbowl halftime show. The advertisers don't have anything to do with it. :roll:

That would be like suing Ilph because I don't like his avatar!

(not that I don't like your avatar, it's just an example...really...)

What, your wife won't let you buy one of those either?

Personally, I think they are lots of fun - but like anything else, there are a few a$$holes that have to act up, and ruin it on everybody else.

the discussion board is "enabling" persons to libel or slander the products of the company in question

The wife would love to have one. However, I am a responsible member of my community. Hey Frank isn't today the 3rd anniversary of you and your fiance going grocery shopping for the first time? You better run out and buy a card. :lol:

Actually, her birthday is coming up, so I will be card shopping in the near future.

As for your other drivel, what does being a responsible member of the community (which is a whole other debate) have to do with owning a PWC?

It would be irresponsible to be like the other sheep who own them. We spend a lot of time up at the lake. The morons who own these noisy pieces of crap are usually the crowd that does not know anything about boating etiquette. They come buzzing into bays where kids are swimming, blow right past docks where people are fishing, having lunch, sunbathing, ect. They crisscross back and forth behind real boats without regard for water safety. We have gotten to know the Sheriffs deputy that patrols the reservoir and he told us that over ¾ of his day is spent dealing with PWC. The more pristine lakes in the area have been attempting to ban them for years.
