Cape Coral, FL

Post by BuffettHound »

Looks like in addition to my yearly trip to Key West I will be spending some time in Cape Coral Fl as well. Hopping that some of you can point me in a direction for "buffettesqe" entertainment and dining, as well as some inshore/offshore fishing.

Thanks, Phins Up!

I agree with mm, visit Sannibel and Captiva if you can. Also you might visit Pine Island, the north and south ends both have some nice places, used to be very quaint and quiet but like most of that area has boomed in the past 20 years. Ft Myers beach has some cool places, Gulf Shores Restaurant, and some more local type places that I prefer. Matlacha used to be my home.
Cabbage Key is cool, takes a boat to get there, I used to take people there when I was a sailboat charter captain on Ft Myers Beach.

Pine Island, St James City...

Double Nichol Pub (is the name ...I think).

Jim Morris check his schedule.

It's a beer and wine place and Jim is usually solo/acoustic.
Oh so many things I can’t remember
And way too many things I can’t forget
What time does church begin? Tell the priest I’m checking in
I want to cleanse my soul so I can do it again and again and again and again

Thanks all Keep the suggestions coming!

I have heard of the Dollar Bill Bar, but never actually knew where it was. There's a place on No Name Key (No Name Pub) that is done up the same way.

Thanks, again

I'll be there in mid march, if it makes any difference

the local parrot head club phlocks at Hurricane Harry's.

To be honest, I didn't find much "parrot head" or "buffettesque" stuph while I lived there. I loved sunsets at Doc's Beach House in Bonita Beach, though. :D

Once you hit Miami...take 75 North about 2 hours. It is just north of Naples and Ft Myers. But I suggest staying in Sannibel or Captiva.

agreed, we stayed on sanible late time we were on the west coast about hmmmm, 20 years ago. i heard it really got built up lately but there probably is still some small local motels. so I guess probably a six hour estimate is pretty good from the lower keys, maybe seven hours.

We're heading down here on the 25th for a week. We usually stay at a condo in Punta Gorda called the Marina Inn.

VERY reasonable. Nice place. We've made several trips down there over the past year - we're looking for our future neighborhood as we hope to move there in the fall of '06. :D

looks like a nice place. Have you ever done any flats fishing down there? i wanna take my kids fly fishing on the flats and was wondering if Ft Myers/ Cape Coral area would be better than KW. Probably cheaper i would imagine.

DEFINITELY cheaper. I never have had time to relax and fish down there, but I'm pretty sure that Pine Island (which is about a 15 minute drive from the Marina Inn) would be an excellent place for that. As stated above, you're also very close to Captiva/Sanibel, Cabbage Key, Useppa, and Boca Grande Key. There is SO much to do there and it's SO beautiful. All of the islands there took a major hit from hurricane Charley last year - they're working on getting back together and have made vast improvements and could really use the tourist dollars.
