These people are morons. What the h*ll were they thinking building their house on this eroded cliff?
Hey honey what do you think caused this cliff to form?
I don't know but it's a nice view. Let's build here.

We've got a few around here that I am waiting to see fall.

But what's the point of building the house if there's no view?

"Honey, I really like the pool overhanging the cliff... None of our friends have one!"
"Dear, what about when the guys come over, they're bound to get drunk and fall off the pool"

Precedent. Federal disaster funds pay idiots who insist on building in hurricane prone areas, along active fault lines, and within flood planes. Why should the idiots who build on the edge of an eroding cliff not be afforded the same undeserved handout?

Good point. I guess it is the same as building in Florida. Every freaking year hurricanes barrel through. Why are we subsidizing the people who live there?

Not sure I would blame the home owner as much as I would the city for approving housing developments on top of land fills.

Therefore, anyone dumb enough to build there deserves what they get.

probably a shared gig....the City wants the additional tax revenue..potential home owners like the view...planning commissions approve the developments including additions and alterations to structure and land. Approval means safe to build, all things being equal of course.

I still think the ultimate responsibility lies with the buyer of the land. Why would you toss out that much money without doing a bit of research on the area first?

The government does a fine job creating enough stupidity.

I'm not sure but I'm guessing that the hill was not eroded when they built it.

That would be one hell of a lot of erosion over a short period of time if it wasn't
