Will Jimmy play San Diego???
Has San Diego/Coors Ampitheater made Jimmy upset? During Volcano in the last couple of concerts his lyrics have said " don't want to land in San Diego...I want to go to a place where I can play"
Will he come to San Diego this year.. god I hope so.
Thoughts anyone or am I just reading too much into this?

hmmmm, I didn't know he had any beef with Coors. I figured he would play San Diego in the fall, when the West Coast Leg II comes around. It's kinda funny that he skipped us this April, considering he's playing three other shows in CA, Vegas and Phoenix. One thing's for sure, he better not resort to playing in the sports arena! How about Petco Park? There's not a better stadium venue out there. We've got a beach and a lawn section.
And it would make for some interesting preparties in the Gaslamp.
We used to laugh at Grandpa when he'd head off and go fishing. But we wouldn't
be laughing that evening when he'd come back with some whore he picked up in
town.

He'll be back here later this summer.
I just hope he doesn't push it back too late into Fall.
Late Oct was cooling off WAAAY too much (as in pouring rain) and we missed all the grass skirts

surely you have been around long enough and heard the song many times, so that you would know, that line has been a part of the song all along.coronacliff wrote:Has San Diego/Coors Ampitheater made Jimmy upset? I think that anytime he don't play a certain location, there is always talk that he is p*** about something. I heard alot of that talke about Nashville last year and will probably hear it again this year. Don't believe it though, Nashville has been good to JB recently. I'd say San Diego is a better bet than Nashville, at least one of us will be happy.

JUNE!!! He's never played here in June. In 1997 - 2001 he was here in April or May. Actually 2 shows in 2000 the Thursday and Saturday of Easter weekend. From 2002 thru 2004 He has played in September or October. My guess is that he'll come here a little earlier than late October this year. He made many, many comments about the cold....even a couple of night later in vegas he sang during Volcano..."I don't want to land in no San Diego, It was way too cold for me."
But....I don't know

He use to play at Jack Murphy Stadium home of the Padres until the early 90's. The San Diego papers reported a falling out between the local promoter and Jimmy's management team. He next played in North San Diego County at the Del Mar race track (great show) and since has played at Coors Amphitheatre in Chula Vista (awesome parking lot party-lots of beach balls and drunk college kids- if you like that sorta scene). I have heard he will return to continue playing at Coors. (rumors say june or late fall)

April 14th is still an open Thursday in the middle of that Western swing...check the venue's schedule and send M'ville a message. Someone needs to claim Jimmy for that date!!

Jimmy played San Diego in the spring 5 years ago- April of 2000. I love the So Cal spring shows SOOOOOOOO much better than the rainy October ones! (But of course, I still love it that he makes it out this way any time of year!)julieroja wrote:Jimmy has played San Diego in June! He used to start his tour here, back in the day....

i may be wrong but expecting a spring and fall west coast leg in the same year is stretching it....
do the math. about 60 regular tour stops, only about 30 shows a year. 30 cities go without a show every year. phx hasn't had a show 3 years. i'd say san deigo got bounced this year......

I agree. Which makes for an interesting question: wonder where will the fall leg of the tour will be?AlbatrossFlyer wrote:i may be wrong but expecting a spring and fall west coast leg in the same year is stretching it....
