I was on the Song Lyrics page of Margaritaville.com and noticed that Far Side of the World has not even gone gold yet. Has it and they just haven't updated the page or did it not just sell enough records?

Probably not enough records. Some of the non obsessive fans haven't even heard of it.

I agree. It is probably my favorite album, at least one of mine.
Shows Jimmy's "deep" side.

someday I will

among others are great songs, his set list was awesome in concert that year as well. I have the 2002 Alpine show and it was great.

I have it but it's not one of my favorites. I consider the song "Far Side" as probably one of my top 10 favs. And "Savannah fare you well" is another that I like alot. But on the whole, that isn't one of my favorite CD's.

The first time I listened to FSOTW I liked it.
Since then I have come to absolutly love it. It has grown on me and is now one of my favorite Jimmy CD's.

2. Boats, Beaches, Bars & Ballads - Multi-platinum (4 million)

CILCIA - Platinum 12/14/77
SOASOAS - Platinum 5/10/78
Fruitcakes - Platinum 12/19/94
Banana Wind - Platinum 8/10/98

Beach House On The Moon
Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays
16 gold (500,000 units shipped), 9 platinum (1 million units shipped) and 3 multi-platinum.

I haven't even listened to SYKBH once. It's in the back of the cd rack with a foot of dust.
I first heard FSOTW in New Orleans while on a trip, not around the sun

. It made the experience that much better. Great cd.

I agree... FSOTW was a great album...
Am I crazy for still loving Beach House though?

Count me in as a Beach House fan too.
I think Far Side is one of Buffett's stronger efforts in recent years. Even though "Altered Boy" is probably my least favorite track on the record I still find myself listening to it every time I give the album a spin.

Make That 3 for
Beach House. And I agree FSOTW is a great CD. But I love
Altered Boy, what a fun tropical song

I'll bet Far Side is one of the most burned cd's of Buffetts, partially explaining the relatively luke warm sales figures.

Nope, it's one of my favorites, too!
I love Permanent Reminder....and Pacing the Cage....and the title track....and....
FSOTW doesn't get as much play as some of the others with me, but I like it....

I agree with Ringling. The title track is one of the best songs on that album. I personally think it is one of the best written songs of his career. You cant help but imagine Jimmy over in some dessert sitting atop a dune or dancing around Massai tribe.

Yes, it is an under-appreciated album. Perhaps Jimmy should perform some of its songs more...

Well, check this out: Since there has been talk about Far Side Of The World (the song) and Beach House On The Moon (the song) I have this great little compilation that is all title tracks.
High Cumberland Jubilee
Nautical Wheelers (has album title in it so why not have it in here?)
Rancho Deluxe
Havana Daydreamin’
Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes
Son Of A Son Of A Sailor
Volcano
Coconut Telegraph
Somewhere Over China
One Particular Harbour
Last Mango In Paris
Floridays
Off To See The Lizard
Fruitcakes
Barometer Soup
Banana Wind
Christmas Island
Beach House On The Moon
Far Side Of The World
License To Chill
A Salty Piece Of Land (okay, it’s not a record but it is a book and tour)
It's those last few tunes, Beach House, Far Side and Piece Of Land that all have the same vibe and groove going on that makes them so cool. I think so anyway. And just as title tracks, there are some fantastic tunes on here (Somewhere Over China and Floridays) and some that are now the usual (CILCIA and SOASOAS, Volcano. Taken out of context and put among these tunes, those now usual songs sound even better.
By the way, the video to Far Side Of The World is great. It's funny how it makes the song seem so short.
Just my three cents. 6 dollar bill?
