If you can see the stage from the back of the lawn at Alpine you must be a American Bald Eagle

I've seen Bon Jovi w/ Skid Row & Billy Squire at Giants Stadium in Jersey.......... The sound was so-so and the view $ucked................
I've also seen The Rolling Stones at Shea Stadium for the Steel Wheels Tour, Eric Clapton showed up and jammed with the Stones, but it did not matter as that stadium show and sound $ucked as well.................
Jimmy could come play all stadium shows and we will not waste one freakin' penny on a ticket to any of them...............

I couldn't disagree more. Jimmy never called me up and said "Help me out by buying my albums, going to my concerts, eating at my restaurants, buying my books and buying my merchandise." It was something I chose to do because:
1. I wanted to;
2. I could;
3. It was a lot of fun;
4. I got to meet a lot of great people from all over the country and a JB concert was sometimes the only chance we had to see each other;
5. I get to see Heather

(come on, I had to throw that one in there)
6. and did I already say "I wanted to"?
Jimmy Buffett could retire tomorrow and he wouldn't owe me a thing, he's already given me more than enough.
By paraphrasing my post, you have managed to leave out the fact that I said the same thing -- Jimmy doesn't owe me a thing.
What I have been trying to convey in my post(s) is a distinct sadness in the passing of the smaller, infinitely more personal amphitheatre shows in favor of the larger, noisier, poorer sounding stadium venues.
Unless you have ever spent an day at a venue like Great Woods prior to a show schmoozing and celebrating till show time, you have no idea of the aesthetic - the sense of "happening" - that I am mourning for.

Where did I paraphrase you? That passage I quoted was taken verbatim from your other post. And by saying something like this:
bgsherris wrote:I just wish Jimmy had the fairness and common sense to end his touring career with the same audience that "brung him." In other words, those who have been loyal for decades...not just those who have discovered him these last few years now that he has become "trendy."
the implication is that people who have been fans for longer than 5 O'Clock Somewhere and License To Chill are somehow more deserving. Which in my opinion is a crock of $h!t. I've been a fan since my college days back in the 70's, I've been to more than 50 concerts in over 20 venues (Great Woods being one of them) and I don't mourn for anything. I celebrate the fact that the man is still out there on the road bringing his music to the fans, old
and new.

Well then Sir, we will just have to disagree on this particular sentiment...and that's that.

Great Woods - 19,900
Gillette - 60,000+
It's obviously not a financial decision....
Jimmy likes the ambience at Gillette better...
The Concrete and Steel Tour

Gillette is the main exception to my theory. The Ballparks really aren't much bigger than the ampitheaters he normally plays. Hell if you count Alpine Valley as the ampitheater norm, which by no means it is, the ballparks will be smaller. But most of the parts are less than 10,000 more than the normal venues. Give is a rest if it's what we have at least we get to see him. If you don't like the venue save your money and don't go there are plenty of people who have been trying to get tickets in the past and couldn't that would gladly take your spot. But don't complain about not seeing a show because of the venue.

I agree. I dont know if I'll be able to see Jimmy this year b/c I'm not sure if he'll come back to NC. Being a college student, I couldn't go out to Charlotte to see the show on Feb. 23 and I surely don't have enough money to travel very far to see him. I grew up on Jimmy Buffett and I've been to every show Jimmys had in Raleigh since the Fruitcakes tour. All this talk about Jimmy playing stadiums has got me kinda bummed. There are no big stadiums in the Raleigh area. People like me just have to sit back, cross our fingers and hope he decides to come to the RBC Center or Alltell Pavilion. I guess what I'm trying to say is yall have it made. I would love to see Jimmy play anywhere, be it a nose bleed section in a stadium or front row at the pavilion. Hey, its JIMMY BUFFETT!!! You are going to have fun!!
