I would stay at the New Spring Hill suites north shore by Marriott right across the street from the Park. The Renaissance is a 5 minute walk to the gates of the park. The Hilton downtown is a good choice too. Sheraton Station Square is also a good hotel. The gateway clipper fleet should be running that day and it will drop you off right outside the stadium.Big Red Parrothead wrote:So can anyone in the Pittsburgh area offer advice on hotels? Is the traffic/parking situation such that I can stay at a place away from the Park and spend the extra money on various tailgating necessities? Or do you recommend shelling out the bucks (heck, already did it for the tickets--why stop now!) for a closer hotel?

Jimmy Buffett & the Coral Reefer Band at PNC Park -- Pittsburgh, PA
Pittsburgh, PA (March 7, 2005) -- Jimmy Buffett & the Coral Reefer Band will make their Pittsburgh appearance this summer at PNC Park. The date for this grand slam event is Sunday, June 26th at 6pm.
Tickets go on sale this Saturday, March 12th at 10am at www.Tickets.com or by calling 1-877-848- 4099. Tickets are also on sale at the PNC Park box office on Saturday, March 12th only. Tickets are priced at $46.00 and $86.00 each, plus applicable venue and ticket service charges.
Last Saturday, Jimmy Buffett sold out his two shows at Philadelphia's Citizen's Bank Park, August 25th and 27th, in just 90 minutes.
Over 90,000 tickets were sold to what promises to be the biggest concert event of the Summer in Philadelphia. Tickets were sold over the phone, internet and nearly 1000 people were in line this past Saturday morning at the Citizens Bank Park box office. At 11:30am as the last person on line was getting their tickets - the Philadelphia shows were announced as complete sell-outs.
Following the success of his best selling novel, A Salty Piece Of Land, and #1 record, License To Chill, Jimmy Buffett makes his always much-anticipated return to the Pittsburgh area. This summer, Buffett will turn PNC Park into a tropical paradise. Buffett concerts are far from the normal show - they are Mardi Gras, New Year's Eve, and Carnival all wrapped into one spectacular night. Buffett's audience, affectionately called Parrotheads, many of whom are professionals by day, turn into colorful, tropical, outrageously-outfitted characters at night when Jimmy comes to town.
Jimmy's newest CD, License To Chill, which debuted at #1 on both the Pop and Country charts, was the first number one record of his career. The collection, which features duets with some of country's biggest stars including Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, George Strait and Martina McBride among others, spent 15 weeks in the Top 10 of the Billboard Country Albums Chart, and has been certified Platinum by the RIAA.
Jimmy's newest novel, A Salty Piece Of Land, was released November 30, 2004. The New York Times has said it "is very possibly Buffett's best work to date." With Jimmy's three previous No. 1 bestsellers, Tales From Margaritaville, Where Is Joe Merchant? and A Pirate Looks At Fifty, he is one of only six authors in the history of the New York Times Bestseller List to have reached #1 on both their fiction and non-fiction lists. A Salty Piece Of Land has been on the New York Times Bestseller List since its release.

Any word on whether the PNC box office will be doing a lottery or first-come-first-served? The folks at PNC were quoted in one of the local papers saying they wouldn't be permitting anyone to line up for tickets before 6 am Saturday morning. That makes me wonder how they're handling things...

I definitely recommend Pre-Sale as well..
Never really heard about it until this year at Columbia, lucked up and was reading Buffett News last week when the Pittsburgh pre-sale started.
Buffett News rules...lots of great people that are willing to help each other out in the true PH spirit.
Unless you are trying to get $48 tickets, do pre-sale and take the pressure off. All the instructions are in the other entries in this post
